    Abstract: A method of decoding video data includes constructing, by a video decoder implemented in processing circuitry, a candidate list of motion vector information for a portion of a current frame. The method includes receiving, by the video decoder, signaling information indicating starting motion vector information of the candidate list of motion vector information, the starting motion vector information indicating an initial position in a reference frame. The method includes refining, by the video decoder, based on one or more of bilateral matching or template matching, the starting motion vector information to determine refined motion vector information indicating a refined position in the reference frame that is within a search range from the initial position. The method includes generating, by the video decoder, a predictive block based on the refined motion vector information and decoding, by the video decoder, the current frame based on the predictive block.

    Abstract: An example device includes a memory to store the video data, and processing circuitry in communication with the memory. The processing circuitry is configured to compare a value of a dimension of a current block of the stored video data to a value of a corresponding dimension of a neighboring block of the current block to obtain a relative dimension value. The processing circuitry is further configured to determine, based on the relative dimension value, that the current block is to be partitioned according to a prediction tree (PT) portion of a multi-type tree-based partitioning scheme. The PT portion comprises partitioning according to one of a binary tree structure or a center-side triple tree structure. The processing circuitry is further configured to partition, based on the determination, the current block according to the PT portion, to form a plurality of sub-blocks.

    Abstract: A method of decoding video data, including receiving an encoded block of video data that was encoded using an inter-prediction mode, receiving one or more syntax elements indicating a motion vector difference (MVD) associated with the encoded block of video data, determining a current MVD precision, from three or more MVD precisions, for the one or more syntax elements indicating the MVD, wherein the three or more MVD precisions include an N-sample MVD precision, where N is an integer indicating a number of samples indicated by each successive codeword of the one or more syntax elements indicating the MVD, and wherein N is greater than 1, decoding the one or more syntax elements indicating the MVD using the determined current MVD precision, and decoding the encoded block of video data using the decoded MVD.

    Abstract: Techniques and systems are provided for deriving one or more sets of affine motion parameters at a decoder. For example, the decoder can obtain video data from an encoded video bitstream. The video data includes at least a current picture and a reference picture. The decoder can determine a set of affine motion parameters for a current block of the current picture. The set of affine motion parameters can be used for performing motion compensation prediction for the current block. The set of affine motion parameters can be determined using a current affine template of the current block and a reference affine template of the reference picture. In some cases, an encoder can determine a set of affine motion parameters for a current block using a current affine template of the current block and a reference affine template of the reference picture, and can generate an encoded video bitstream that includes a syntax item indicating template matching based affine motion derivation mode is to be used by a decoder for the current block. The encoded video bitstream may not include any affine motion parameters for determining the set of affine motion parameters.

    Abstract: Techniques are described for performing constrained three-dimensional (3D) color prediction for color gamut scalability in video coding. Color prediction techniques for color gamut scalability may be used by video coders to generate inter-layer reference pictures when a color gamut for a reference layer of video data is different than a color gamut for an enhancement layer of the video data, or when a bit depth of the reference layer is different than a bit depth of the enhancement layer. According to the techniques, a video coder may perform 3D color prediction with constrained bit depths of input and output color components of the 3D lookup table. According to further techniques, in the case of multiple layers, a video coder may perform 3D color prediction with constrained application to reference pictures in only one or more identified reference layers.
