Abstract:
A scanning head comprises a support member for supporting the head in pressing contact with a platen. The support member has lower strength portions spaced longitudinally of the head, and higher strength portions alternate with the lower strength portions. The support member is easily bendable at the lower strength portions, and the higher strength portions are urged by springs toward the platen. Thus, the head can come into intimate pressing contact with the platen even if the surface flatness of the support member as a whole is not strictly realized.
Abstract:
Process and apparatus for fabricating an extended scanning or printing array in which plural smaller scanning or printing chips are bonded end-to-end onto the surface of a glass substrate having an opaque thermally and/or electrically conductive coating thereon, with the coating removed at discrete sites to allow a photocurable adhesive placed at the sites to be cured through exposure to UV light from underneath the substrate, the photocurable adhesive holding the chips in place while a chip bonding adhesive deposited on the conductive coating where the chips are located is cured to provide a permanent structure.
Abstract:
An image reading device, such as may be employed in a facsmile transmitter, laser beam printer, copying machine, or the like, in which assembly and alignment of optical components of the system is simplified and stray light is prevented from reaching a photoelectric conversion element. The optical system and the photoelectric conversion element are fixedly secured to a single supporting frame in a desired predetermined positional relationship. The supporting frame is detachably mounted on a mounting surface of an image reading device body. The optical system includes a filter or dust-proof transparent cover, an optical path changing mirror, and an image forming lens, all of which are secured to the supporting frame. A light-quantity-distribution correcting light-shielding plate may be provided in front of the image forming lens to provide an even distribution of image light on the photoelectric conversion element.
