    摘要: Generation of a high power rf pulse is achieved in a simple transmitting device that uses permanent magnet material(s) to store energy. Such energy is released through the thermal quenching of the magnetic material(s). Thermal quenching is accomplished, e.g., through an explosion. Such thermal quenching is facilitated in one embodiment by using a magnetic composite material comprising both magnetic particles and explosive particles. The rf pulse thus generated may be used for any desired purpose, e.g., tracking or research. The transmitting device includes a permanent magnet for establishing a constant magnetic flux for so long as the magnet retains its normal magnetic properties. The magnetic flux passes through a coil. Upon the thermal quenching of the magnetic material(s), the magnetic properties rapidly change, causing the magnetic flux to also rapidly change, thus inducing a high power electrical pulse in the coil. This high power electrical pulse may be used in a broad band spark transmitter or used to power a narrow band transmitter, causing the rf pulse to be generated. In one embodiment, the power of the electrical pulse is increased by charging a capacitor, followed by a very short discharge of the capacitor.

    摘要: An arrangement for increasing the level of radiated and received energy in a telescoping antenna while the antenna is in a collapsed position. The increase in energy is obtained through use of a sliding member which projects from the base of the antenna and contacts antenna matching circuitry for making changes to this circuitry when the antenna is collapsed. Initially tuned for resonating signals for transmission and reception with the antenna in an extended position, the antenna matching circuitry is retuned by a switching action provided by the sliding member for more effective resonating of these signals with the shorter length antenna. The switching action of the sliding member also activates gain control circuitry which increases the signal levels in both an associated transmitter and receiver when the antenna is in the collapsed position.

When joysticks of a transmitter are operated depending on the desired amount of operation of a control drive unit, the transmitter alternately arranges an absolute signal and a difference signal corresponding to the operation and generates a modulated control signal, which is received by a radio receiver loaded on the control drive unit. The radio receiver demodulates the control signal into an absolute data signal and a difference data signal, which are then converted into a signal of only an absolute value by a converter. Then, a drive section drives and controls the movable controls of the control drive unit in response to the signal.

    摘要: A transmitter attachment for hunting arrows includes a hollow tubular member which is removably mounted between the arrowhead and shaft of a conventional hunting arrow. The tubular member has a transmitter mounted in one end, and a battery slidably mounted between a pair of spring contacts in the other end. The battery is mounted so as to slide forward into electrical contact with a coil spring, which closes an electrical circuit to energize the transmitter, when the arrow hits the target or the ground. Thus, the combination of battery and contacts forms a type of inertia switch. A directional receiver is utilized to locate the arrow. The transmitter is deactivated by tapping the nock-end of the arrow against the ground--which slides the battery out of contact with the coil spring.

    摘要: A system for quadriplegics and for others having less than full use of their limbs for controlling the environment is disclosed. The system includes an intra-oral lingually operated switch located on a dental appliance. The switch activates an intra-oral power supply and intra-oral FM transmitter which directs control signals from the inside of the oral cavity to an external FM receiver. A controller responsive to the receiver generates output signals for operating call devices, and for controlling various appliances such as televisions, lights, bed position, etc. In one embodiment, a delay circuit is interposed between the intra-oral switch and the power supply such that inadvertent closure of the switch with the tongue does not cause undue power drain. An improved FM transmitter circuit is also disclosed which has low power drain, has low mass and temperature sensitivity and is not directional.
