Abstract: An image reading apparatus includes an image scanning unit that is provided with a holding portion holding a flexible flat cable. The holding portion is protruded toward an upstream side in a sub scanning direction, and provided with a second wall part. The flexible flat cable that is extended from a connector is brought into contact with the second wall part. As for the flexible flat cable, a downward movement is regulated by a lower holding portion and an upward movement is regulated by an upper holding portion. Accordingly, the flexible flat cable does not rise.

Abstract: Provided is a signal processing apparatus that enables an image reading apparatus to perform higher speed processing of reading a document image. A signal processing unit is configured to convert six analog image signals obtained from a line sensor into six first signals, each of which is a 10-bit digital image signal, respectively, and to write the six first signals into a RAM at a first speed that is the same as a frequency of the analog image signals. The signal processing unit is configured to cause a serialization unit to read out from the RAM the six first signals as four second signals, each of which is a 10-bit digital image signal, at a second speed higher than the first speed, respectively, and to serialize the four second signals to generate six 7-bit serial signals.

Abstract: A method to diagnosis an electro-mechanical part on an image forming device comprises: determining an incident count for a first time interval for the electro-mechanical part; determining if the incident count for the first time interval exceeds a first threshold level; marking the incident count as a high rate if the incident count exceeds the first threshold level; marking the incident count as a low rate if the incident count is more than 0 but equal to or less than the first threshold level; marking the incident count as a zero rate if the incident count is equal to 0; monitoring the electro-mechanical part for a second time interval, wherein the second time interval is a plurality of first time intervals; cumulating a number of first time intervals with the low rate during the second time intervals; and marking the electro-mechanical part as needing to be one of repaired or serviced when the number of first time intervals with the low rate during the second time intervals exceeds a second threshold level.

Abstract: The present disclosure discloses methods and systems (for example multi-function devices) for segmenting multiple documents from a single input image. The multi-functional device includes a controller unit having a boundary extraction module to process an input image having multiple documents. The processing is performed using a computer implemented sum of absolute difference (SAD) based edge detection technique, to identify potential edge pixels and the region of interest pixels of the plurality of document images. Based on the identified potential edge pixels, perimeter boundaries surrounding each of the plurality of document images are determined. The determined perimeter boundaries and ROI pixels (Image mask for each document) in the input image are then segmented to create separate pages or files for each of the documents present within the input image for the purpose of printing separate files.

Grid points are selected from a scanner profile corresponding to the process color components (CMYK) for any output device value of an input image. An output device value for color patch is acquired while the output device value for color patch results from adding a color (R) except the process color components (CMYK) for any output device value to the CMYK process color components retained at the selected grid points. A color patch (chart image) is generated based on the output device value for color patch.
