    摘要: The present invention accommodates differences in cracking pressures between check valves by determining a pressure on the input of a check valve that corresponds to a predetermined flow rate at the output of the check valve. A container is incrementally pressurized and the vacuum at a point on the output side of the check valve is monitored. Once fluid begins to pass through the check valve, the vacuum drops. At the predetermined flow rate, the pump cannot maintain a predetermined vacuum level since it cannot exceed a maximum speed. At this point the pressure applied to the container corresponds to the predetermined flow rate. An offset is added to the pressure to determine the minimum operating pressure.

    摘要: A thrombectomy catheter device having an improved hemostasis valve which is self-sealing and which functions as a one-way valve. The self-sealing hemostasis valve can be factory preset to automatically seal with or without the inclusion of a guidewire at a certain desired pressure or allowable leakage. Such sealing is automatic without the need to manually manipulate a hemostasis nut to obtain hemostasis. The thrombectomy catheter device can, without hemostasis nut adjustment, be positioned along and about a guidewire while yet maintaining suitable pressure for sustaining hemostasis at a preferred level. Certain embodiments of the thrombectomy catheter device having a self-sealing hemostasis valve include an adjustable hemostasis nut which can be manually tightened to restrict flow or guidewire movement or loosened to reduce friction on the guidewire and allow fluid to flow out if desired. An introducer facilitates free passage of a guidewire in either direction through the hemostasis nut and hemostasis valving and can also be incorporated to purge internal air or fluids.

    摘要: An arrhythmia discrimination device and method involves receiving electrocardiogram signals and non-electrophysiologic signals at subcutaneous locations. Both the electrocardiogram-signals and non-electrophysiologic signals are used to discriminate between normal sinus rhythm and an arrhythmia. An arrhythmia may be detected using electrocardiogram signals, and verified using the non-electrophysiologic signals. A detection window may be initiated in response to receiving the electrocardiogram signal, and used to determine whether the non-electrophysiologic signal is received at a time falling within the detection window. Heart rates may be computed based on both the electrocardiogram signals and non-electrophysiologic signals. The rates may be used to discriminate between normal sinus rhythm and arrhythmia, and used to determining absence of an arrhythmia.

    摘要: A fiber tip fluid output device is provided for holding a fiber tip in an electromagnetic energy cutting apparatus and for directing water particles over a radiation delivery end of the fiber tip. The fiber tip fluid output device includes a generally cylindrical body having an outer surface, a proximal end, a distal end, and a lumen extending between the proximal end and the distal end. The lumen is sized and shaped to accommodate a fiber tip therethrough so that the fiber tip extends through the lumen from the proximal end to the distal end of the generally cylindrical body. The fiber tip fluid output device further includes a plurality of apertures extending around the generally cylindrical body, with each of the apertures of the plurality of apertures fluidly connecting the outer surface to the lumen. Fluid is mixed around the cylindrical body, before entering the lumen through the plurality of apertures for additional mixing. The mixed fluid is then output from the lumen of the fiber tip fluid output device onto the fiber tip, for subsequent interaction with electromagnetic energy in an interaction zone above a target surface.
