In some aspects, the scheduled entity detects a fluctuation in a beam strength of at least one transmit beam from a scheduling entity. The scheduled entity transmits a first message to the scheduling entity, the first message indicating at least the fluctuation in the beam strength of the at least one transmit beam from the scheduling entity.

The techniques further provide for the UE to receive the upcoming transmission using the determined receive beam.

Abstract: A UE may receive a beam modification command that indicates a set of transmit beam indexes corresponding to a set of transmit beams of a base station, and each transmit beam index of the set of transmit beam indexes may indicate at least a transmit direction for transmitting a transmit beam by the base station. The UE may determine a set of receive beam indexes corresponding to receive beams of the UE based on the set of transmit beam indexes, and each receive beam index of the set of receive beam indexes may indicate at least a receive direction for receiving a receive beam by the UE. The UE may receive, from the base station, a signal through at least one receive beam corresponding to at least one receive beam index included in the set of receive beam indexes.

Abstract: A user equipment (UE) can transmit a beam failure recovery request using contention-based physical random access channel (PRACH) resources to supplement and/or replace non-contention-based resources for transmitting the beam failure recovery request. The UE can reduce beam recovery latency by informing its intention for beam failure recovery by transmitting a beam failure recovery request during the random access channel (RACH) procedure. The base station may dedicate a set of RACH resources that can be used for both transmitting regular contention-based RACH messages and beam failure recovery request.

The method generally includes transmitting a first message comprising a RACH preamble, receiving a second message comprising random access response (RAR) in response to the RACH preamble, transmitting a third message in response to the RAR, receiving a fourth message (MSG4) comprising a contention resolution message in response to the third message. In certain aspects, the fourth message may include a timing advance (TA) parameter which may be used to communicate one or more messages.
