摘要: A method and system are disclosed for imaging a planetary surface region of interest (ROI). In a primary application, a plurality of space vehicles having antennas mounted thereupon are utilized to collect thermal radiation emitted from the ROI and generate corresponding thermal emission signals. Such thermal emission signals may be combined to yield one or more simple interferometric fringes. The simple fringes may be employed to yield a pixel image of the ROI. In one aspect, one or more simple interferometric fringes may be utilized to generate one or more compound interferometric fringes for use in formation of the pixel image. One or more compound fringes may be utilized to generate additional levels of compound fringes for use in formation of the pixel image. In another aspect, the space vehicles may be positioned in a nullnear-fieldnull imaging arrangement relative to the ROI and a matched filtering approach may be utilized for extracting amplitude data from the interferometric fringe(s) on a basis for use in pixel image formation.

摘要: The invention is directed to an infrared radiation thermometer, in particular an ear thermometer, having a probe head (10) whose outer diameter and/or shape is variable by an elastic arrangement (4, 14, 24). This enables the probe head to conform itself automatically to the size and/or contour of the body cavity or to be conformed manually. The thermometer is therefore equally well suited for both children and adults, although their ear canals differ in diameter.

摘要: This invention relates to an infrared clinical thermometer having a probe projecting forward from the main thermometer body. The probe is designed to be inserted into an car canal and detect infrared radiation from a human eardrum in order to measure body temperature. A measurement start switch is located on the upper portion of the rear side of the thermometer main body, substantially in line with the probe. When the measurement start switch is pressed, the probe does not rotate or tilt, allowing a accurate temperature measurement to be obtained. The thermometer also has a display which shows the measurement results after the operation of the measurement start switch. The display is located on the upper portion of the rear side of the main body, so that it can be clearly seen as the thermometer is held by the operator.

摘要: An invisible symbol reading apparatus includes a heating unit for heating an invisible symbol formed on a sample and containing a material which emits infrared light when heated, a detecting unit for detecting infrared light emitted from the invisible symbol, and an arithmetic operation unit for binarizing a detection signal from the detecting unit. The arithmetic operation unit calculates a differential coefficient of the detection signal, that corresponds to a position on the sample. On the basis of upper and lower threshold values set for the differential coefficient, the arithmetic operation unit determines a maximum value of the differential coefficient in a region exceeding the upper threshold value and a minimum value of the differential coefficient in a region smaller than the lower threshold value. The arithmetic operation unit binarizes the detection signal by using the maximum or minimum value as a leading or trailing edge of a binary function.

摘要: A method facilitates inspection of a component surface. The method comprises positioning a surface of the component to be inspected in an optical path of at least one infrared radiation detector, heating the component surface using electromagnetic radiation to cause an increase in radiance from a defect present at the component surface, and detecting temperature variations within the component surface using the at least one infrared radiation detector, such that the surface irradiance is measured at predetermined locations across the component surface. The method further comprises detecting cracks in the component by analyzing radiation transient response data received by the infrared radiation detector, and correlating the temperature variations to the radiation transient response data to determine a depth of the detected cracks.

摘要: In a wide band light sensing pixel array (100) comprising pixel groups (105), a ratio of a visible exposure period to a near infrared exposure period is controlled by a control circuit (108) to be essentially equivalent to a ratio of a second nominal sensitivity to a first nominal sensitivity. The visible exposure period is an exposure period of a set of visible light pixels having the first nominal sensitivity. The near infrared exposure period is an exposure period of a near infrared light pixel having the second nominal sensitivity. A subset of the set of visible light pixels and the near infrared light pixel in each pixel group (105) and circuit components associated only with the subset can be turned off during a reduced color mode.
