Abstract: A rotary position sensing including a first and second magnet spaced from one another. A first and second triangular magnetic flux director are arranged in a generally diamond shaped configured with an air gap between the two magnetic flux directors. A magnetic field sensor system is positioned in the air gap between the magnetic flux directors. The magnets and the magnetic flux directors, with the magnetic field sensor system in the air gap, are rotatable relative to one another about an axis generally normal to a plane including the magnets and magnetic flux directors. The magnetic field sensor system provides an output in response to a rotational position of the magnets relative to the magnetic flux directors.

Abstract: A system and a sensor usable for the automated activation of a defrosting mechanism; particularly the automated defrost of a vehicle window. Further, the sensor is adapted for the detection and measurement of changes in the dielectric constant of a dielectric disposed on a surface. Further still, the sensor is adapted for detecting changes in the phase changes of water, i.e. detecting if and when liquid water becomes frozen into frost, ice or snow. The sensor is coupled to a processor and various defrosting means for automatically defrosting vehicle windows in response to a remote signal, such as that provided by a keyless entry or remote starter.

Abstract: A failsafe actuator for returning an actuator driven element to a failsafe position in case of a failure condition is provided. The failsafe actuator may include mechanical or electrical means to provide a failsafe function. Such a failsafe actuator may be used in a stabilizer bar system of a vehicle to ensure that at least one stabilizer bar is returned to a failsafe or engaged condition should a failure condition occur when the stabilizer bar is disengaged. Various failure conditions can include loss of electrical power to the actuator or some internal actuator failures.

Abstract: A programmable device for controlling the amount of heat supplied to a building by a circulating medium by enabling a circuit to a heater such as an oil or gas burner, or a steam valve to open and close during predetermined times and in response to the temperature of the outside air and the temperature of the medium. The predetermined times can occur during a multi-day cycle such as a week. As the outside air temperature rises and falls, the circuit will be opened or closed depending on whether the device is at a predetermined time and whether that temperature falls above or below a predetermined value and depending on the temperature of the circulating medium. Additionally, the device can be set so that when the outside air temperature falls below a predetermined level the circuit is closed to add heat to the building without regard to where in the program cycle the device is. Conversely, the device can be set so that when the outside air temperature reaches a predetermined maximum, the circuit is opened to halt the addition of heat to the building not without regard to where in the program cycle the device is.

Abstract: A vane pump includes a housing that provides a bore in fluid communication with an inlet passageway and an outlet passageway, and a rotary assembly that is arranged within and configured to rotate relative to the bore. The rotary assembly includes a rotor that is mounted to a shaft and has multiple slots. The rotor has a first and second faces that engage the housing. A vane is received in each of the slots, each vane has first and second surfaces that extend a length in a longitudinal direction from a first end portion to a second end portion. The first end portion is received in its respective slots. The rotary assembly includes a recess on at least one of the first face, the second face, the first surface of the first portion, and the second surface of the first portion.
