Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE) may apply transmission power commands and transmit uplink control information based on a received two-stage grant. For example, a UE may receive a grant including a transmit power command that may be applied to a transmission time interval (TTI) during which the UE transmits. The UE may also apply the transmit power command to a TTI that is a number of TTIs after the grant is received. In some cases, the UE may receive a trigger as part of a two-stage grant, and the application of the transmit power command may be based on the trigger. In another example, the UE may identify uplink control information based on a time delay between a number of TTIs. In some cases, a UE may identify control channel elements based on a DCI type.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatuses are described for wireless communications, in which transmission of common information to two or more receivers over unlicensed spectrum may be provided. The common information may be transmitted over a number (e.g., a set) of different carrier frequencies of the unlicensed spectrum. A staggering pattern may be employed to transmit all or a part of the common information across each of the carrier frequencies in the set of carrier frequencies. The detection of the information on one of the carrier frequencies may provide information that may be used to derive the staggering pattern. The duration of the common information transmission on each of the carrier frequencies may be selected such that a clear channel assessment (CCA) to determine availability of the unlicensed spectrum is not required.

Abstract: A wireless communication system may allocate uplink resources to configure coexisting interleaved and contiguous uplink transmissions. Operation using different waveform types may address bandwidth occupancy requirements, power spectral density (PSD) limitations, etc. A carrier bandwidth may be split into regions allocated for interlaced resource allocations and contiguous resource allocations for frequency division multiplexing (FDM) based coexistence. To achieve coexistence of such waveform types, a base station may indicate a waveform type, a transmission carrier bandwidth or channel, and a resource block allocation (e.g., an interlace pattern, certain ranges within the carrier bandwidth, etc.) for uplink transmissions. In some cases, channel contention procedures (e.g., Listen Before Talk (LBT)) and power constraints (e.g., power spectral density (PSD) limitations) may be based on the waveform type associated with the uplink transmission. A base station may allocate frequency resources of an uplink TTI to multiple UEs, which may operate according to different waveform types.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. Resources for narrowband communication in an unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band may be configured and allocated based on resource availability, regulatory constraints, and device capability or category. A narrowband wireless device, such as a machine type communication device or other relatively low complexity device, may communicate using one or more narrowband carriers, which may occupy between one tone and multiple resource blocks in an unlicensed spectrum band (e.g., any number of resources between one (1) tone and multiple resource blocks (RBs)). Different device types may thus be configured differently as they move between geographic regions. The base station may then communicate with the narrowband mobile device based on the resource allocation and the carrier configuration.

Abstract: Resource mapping and coding schemes to handle bursty interference are disclosed that provide for spreading the modulated symbols for one or more transmission code words over more symbols in the time-frequency transmission stream. Certain aspects allow for the modulated symbols to be based on bits from more than one code word. Other aspects also provide for re-mapping code word transmission sequences for re-transmissions based on the number of re-transmissions requested by the receiver. Additional aspects provide for layered coding that uses a lower fixed-size constellation to encode/decode transmissions in a layered manner in order to achieve a larger-size constellation encoding. The layered encoding process allows the transmitter and receiver to use different coding rates for each coding layer. The layered encoding process also allows interference from neighboring cells to be canceled without knowledge of the actual constellation used to code the interfering neighboring signal.
