Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive, from a base station and via a reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS), a synchronization signal block (SSB) corresponding to a first SSB type configured for RIS-assisted procedures. The UE may select a random access channel (RACH) occasion including multiple physical random access channel (PRACH) transmission slots based at least in part on receiving the SSB corresponding to the first SSB type. Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may initiate a random access procedure with a base station. The UE may transmit a random access channel (RACH) preamble to the base station. The UE may receive, from the base station and in response to the RACH preamble, a random access response (RAR) message. The UE may then identify a beam configuration for transmission of repetitions of an uplink transmission response to the RAR message. A user equipment (UE) may receive signaling from a base station including a configuration for multiple transmission time intervals (TTIs) including uplink symbols, downlink symbols, flexible symbols, or a combination. The UE may receive a grant scheduling one or more repetitions of an uplink shared channel carrying an uplink random access message from the base station. The UE may determine available TTIs for the repetitions based on a pre-TTI evaluation of symbols according to a rule that defines types of symbols available for the uplink shared channel. The UE may transmit the repetitions on the available TTIs according to the rule.

Abstract: Fallback procedures for user equipments (UEs) are described that provide efficient fallback to a four-step random access procedure from a two-step random access procedure. For example, after transmitting a first message of a two-step random access procedure, a UE may start a fallback timer or counter and monitor for a second message of the two-step random access procedure for the duration of the fallback timer or counter. At the expiration of the fallback timer or counter, the UE may fall back to a four-step random access procedure. In some cases, the UE may transmit multiple repetitions of the first message and monitor for responses after transmitting the repetitions or after each repetition. Additionally, or alternatively, the base station may transmit an explicit signal to the UE that may signal to the UE to perform a fallback procedure at a beginning or middle of a random access procedure.
