Abstract: The exemplary embodiments relate to a user equipment (UE) performing radio link monitoring of a sidelink. The UE may transmit a signal over the sidelink and receive an indication of a type of hybrid automatic repeating request (HARQ) feedback in response to the signal. The UE may then generate a radio link metric associated with the sidelink based on the type of HARQ feedback. The UE may determine that the radio link metric satisfies a predetermined threshold and initiate a keep alive procedure for the sidelink based on the radio link metric satisfying the predetermined threshold.

A first wireless device and a second wireless device may establish a unicast sidelink wireless connection. Abstract: Systems and methods for performing measurements of one or more cells during an small data transmission (SDT) procedure between a user equipment (UE) and a network when the UE is in a radio resource control (RRC) INACTIVE state are described herein. Beam and/or cell measurements taken during an SDT measurement period of the SDT procedure may be used to determine one or more respective cell qualities, among other possibilities. Beginnings and endings of the SDT measurement period, and the manner (timing) for taking measurements within the SDT measurement period, are also described. The cell qualities so determined can then be used to monitor, during the SDT measurement period, for a measurement event, which causes the UE to send a measurement report to the network having data determined using those cell qualities, and/or to send messaging intended to induce the network to change the RRC state of the UE.

Abstract: This disclosure relates to techniques, base stations, and user equipment devices (UEs) for performing base station authentication through access stratum signaling transmissions. The UE may operate in idle mode and may receive an authentication message from a base station through the wireless interface while operating in idle mode. The UE may determine whether a signature comprised within the authentication message is valid, and the UE may continue a connection procedure with the base station based on a determination that the signature is valid. If it is determined that the signature is invalid, the UE may designate the base station as a barred base station and may perform cell re-selection. The authentication message may be one of a radio resource control (RRC) connection setup message, a special RRC message, a media access control (MAC) message, or a random access channel (RACH) message comprising a random access response (RAR) message.
