Abstract:
A scanning device and a scanning method thereof are provided. The scanning device includes a scanning group, a paper-feed roller and a calibration portion. The scanning group includes a line light source generating module and a scanning module. The line light source generating module includes a point light source, a light-guiding plate and a casing. The light emitted by the point light source along a first direction is converted into a line light source through a light-guiding plate disposed in the casing. The light emitted by the line light source along a second direction is emitted from an opening of the casing. The scanning module, along the first direction, includes a scan document region and a calibration region. The light reflected through the to-be-scanned document is received in the scan document region. The calibration portion disposed on the casing or the paper-feed roller corresponds to the calibration region.
Abstract:
A rod-shaped light guide which does not cause unevenness in color at the portion near an incident face is produced by injection-molding transparent resin such as acryl and its surfaces include a light-emitting surface, a bottom face, left and right sides and end faces. One end face opposes a light emitting unit, and light scattering patterns for scattering light incident from the end face are formed on the bottom face. The light scattering patterns are different in shape between a portion near the end face as the incident face and a portion away from the end face. The light scattering patterns formed at the portion near the incident face are composed of a large number of fine hemispherical concaves, whereas the light scattering patterns at the portion away from the incident face are composed of triangular grooves or half cylindrical grooves, and the axial direction of these triangular grooves or half cylindrical grooves coincides with the width direction (sub-scanning direction) of the bottom face on which the patterns are formed.
Abstract:
An illuminator includes a light guide having a circular cross-section, a scatterer that is provided on a portion of the circumference of the circular cross-section and that radiates scattering light toward the inside of the light guide, and a condensing lens that condenses light emitted from the light guide and transforms the light into a linear beam, a planar beam, or a point-like beam. In the illuminator light from the light source is effectively utilized, and the light can efficiently illuminate the required illumination area. In addition, an image reader apparatus can perform high-speed reading using such an illuminator.

Abstract:
An optical component structure includes an elongate optical component, a support member to which the optical component is fixed, and an adhesive for bonding the optical component to the support member. The optical component is provided with a contacting portion and a bonding portion different in position from the contacting portion. The contacting portion is brought into direct contact with the support member in a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the optical component. The adhesive is applied to the bonding portion, but not to the contacting portion. Examples of the optical component include a linear light source unit and a lens unit used in an image sensor module.
Abstract:
A structure of a line lighting device permits a rod-like light guide to be attached to a case without rubbing against the case. An end portion of the rod-like light guide provided with a pin is inserted into an opening in a case main body and pushed down, thus making the pin engage with a recess in the case main body. At this time, a distal end of the rod-like light guide is inserted, to some extent, into an opening in a light emitting unit fixing portion. Subsequently, the rod-like light guide is pushed down and pivoted around the pin so as to be completely contained within the case main body. In this state, the distal end of the rod-like light guide is fitted into the opening and the end face of the rod-like light guide is flush with the outer side face of the light emitting unit fixing portion.

An image reader (A) includes a case (1), a substrate (3) in the form of a strip, a plurality of light receiving elements (80) and a plurality of electrodes (10A, 10B). A dam member (20) projecting in the thickness direction of the substrate (3) is provided between the light receiving elements (80) and the electrodes (10A, 10B).
Abstract:
A line-illuminating device comprises a white casing, a bar-shaped light guide housed within the casing, and light-emitting units provided on opposite ends of the bar-shaped light guide. The light-emitting unit has a substrate forming a circuit on which a lead wire for power supply is installed. Formed on a surface of the substrate facing the bar-shaped light guide is a window for coupling in which a green-color light-emitting diode and a blue-color light-emitting diode are installed. Likewise, the light-emitting unit has a substrate on which a lead wire for power supply is installed. Formed on a surface of the substrate facing the bar-shaped light guide is a window for coupling in which two red-color light-emitting diodes are installed.
