Abstract: A display apparatus including a frame, light emitting diode chips separated from each other and regularly arranged in a matrix on the frame, an optical part including a display panel and at least one of a phosphor sheet and an optical sheet, a light guide plate disposed between the frame and the optical part to cover the light emitting diode chips, at least one reflector disposed between the frame and the light guide plate to reflect at least part of light emitted from the light emitting diode chip to direct at least part of light emitted therefrom to the light guide plate, and a first-type electrode and a second-type electrode, in which at least one of the light emitting diode chips is a flip-chip type and includes a first-type semiconductor layer electrically connected to the first-type electrode and a second-type semiconductor layer electrically connected to the second-type electrode.

Abstract: An electronic device may include a display module that generates light and an optical system that redirects the light towards an eye box. The system may include an input coupler on a waveguide and a lens that directs the light towards the input coupler. The input coupler may include a prism having a reflective surface that reflects the light into the waveguide. The reflective surface may be curved to provide the light with an optical power. The prism may be configured to expand a field of view of the light. A birefringent beam displacer may expand the effective pupil size of the light. The lens may include lens elements that converge the light at a location between the lens elements and the waveguide. A switchable panel may be placed at the location and toggled between first and second orientations to increase the effective resolution of the light.

Abstract: A HUD system and light source apparatus can be manufactured with miniaturization at low cost. A head-up display apparatus includes: an image display apparatus generating image light to be projected; an optical system performing predetermined correction to the image light emitted from the image display apparatus; and a concave mirror reflecting the image light corrected by the optical system to project it onto a windshield or combiner. The image display apparatus includes: a solid light source; a collimating optical system converting, into parallel light, the light from the solid light source; a lighting optical system configured by an optical member that polarizes a direction of a light beam generated by the collimating optical system and simultaneously expands a width of the light beam; and a display apparatus, the image display apparatus being configured to be arranged across and opposite the optical system on an optical axis of the concave mirror.

Abstract: An image encoder performs a first partitioning including using a first partition mode, without writing first splitting information indicative of the first partition mode into a bitstream, to split a first block into a plurality of second blocks in response to that the first block is located adjacent to an edge of a picture and that the dimensions of the first block satisfy a first condition; and performs a second partitioning on the second block by writing second splitting information indicative of a second partition mode into the bitstream, and using the second partition mode to split the second block into a plurality of coding units (CUs), wherein the second partition mode prohibits the quad tree splitting of the second block in certain conditions.

Abstract: An image display device includes a light source, a display panel, and a light guide. The light source has a light source element that irradiates light. The display panel displays an image, and the light guide guides light from the light source to the display panel. The light guide has a lens portion that suppresses spread of light from the light source part. A maximum spread angle θ at which light irradiated from the light source intersects with a main plane of the lens portion being 15 degrees or more and 60 degrees or less. Light irradiated from the light source has a width less than one-third of the width of the main plane of the lens portion.

Abstract: A light guide plate including a light emitting surface, a bottom surface, a light incident surface, multiple protrusion structures, and multiple grooves is provided. The light incident surface is connected between the light emitting surface and the bottom surface. The protrusion structures are disposed along a first direction and extend toward a second direction. The protrusion structures have a light condensing angle along the first direction, and the light condensing angle ranges from 10 degrees to 40 degrees. The grooves are disposed in the protrusion structures of the light guide plate. The grooves extend toward the first direction. The protrusion structures have a light receiving surface that defines each groove and is closer to the light incident surface. An angle between the light receiving surface and the bottom surface ranges from 35 degrees to 65 degrees. A display apparatus adopting the light guide plate is also provided.
