    Abstract: Provided is a device for displaying augmented reality including an optical engine configured to output light of a virtual image, a waveguide configured to output light of the virtual image and transmit light of a real scene, a first lens part and a second lens part, and a processor, the first lens part being configured to tune a focus of the virtual image and including a first focus-tunable lens having a refractive power tunable by the processor and a fixed refractive lens having a refractive power, the second lens part being configured to compensate distortion of the real scene and including a second focus-tunable lens having a refractive power that is tunable by the processor, and the processor being further configured to determine the first refractive power based on vision information of the user, attribute depth information of the virtual image, and fixed refractive power of the fixed refractive lens.

    Abstract: An electronic device may include a display module that generates light and an optical system that redirects the light towards an eye box. The system may include an input coupler on a waveguide and a lens that directs the light towards the input coupler. The input coupler may include a prism having a reflective surface that reflects the light into the waveguide. The reflective surface may be curved to provide the light with an optical power. The prism may be configured to expand a field of view of the light. A birefringent beam displacer may expand the effective pupil size of the light. The lens may include lens elements that converge the light at a location between the lens elements and the waveguide. A switchable panel may be placed at the location and toggled between first and second orientations to increase the effective resolution of the light.

    Abstract: A light guide plate including a light emitting surface, a bottom surface, a light incident surface, multiple protrusion structures, and multiple grooves is provided. The light incident surface is connected between the light emitting surface and the bottom surface. The protrusion structures are disposed along a first direction and extend toward a second direction. The protrusion structures have a light condensing angle along the first direction, and the light condensing angle ranges from 10 degrees to 40 degrees. The grooves are disposed in the protrusion structures of the light guide plate. The grooves extend toward the first direction. The protrusion structures have a light receiving surface that defines each groove and is closer to the light incident surface. An angle between the light receiving surface and the bottom surface ranges from 35 degrees to 65 degrees. A display apparatus adopting the light guide plate is also provided.
