Abstract: Techniques and systems are provided for compressing data in a neural network. For example, output data can be obtained from a node of the neural network. Re-arranged output data having a re-arranged scanning pattern can be generated. The re-arranged output data can be generated by re-arranging the output data into the re-arranged scanning pattern. One or more residual values can be determined for the re-arranged output data by applying a prediction mode to the re-arranged output data. The one or more residual values can then be compressed using a coding mode.

Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide a method of encoding data. The method generally includes receiving data comprising a fractional number comprising an exponential component and a fractional component, the exponential component being represented by an exponential bit sequence, the fractional component being represented by a fractional bit sequence. The method further includes determining if the fractional component is within a threshold of 0 or 1. The method further includes setting the fractional component to 0 when the fractional component is within the threshold of 0 or 1. The method further includes downscaling the fractional bit sequence based on a difference between the exponential component and a second threshold. The method further includes encoding the data. The method further includes transmitting the encoded data.

Abstract: A system and method for applying Rate Distortion Optimized Quantization (RDOQ) is disclosed. In one example, there is provided a method that includes determining at least one prediction type and at least one partition type for use in encoding at least one block of video data. The method further includes applying a non-RDOQ quantization scheme to the at least one block of the video data. The non-RDOQ quantization scheme may be applied during the determination of the at least one prediction type and the at least one partition type. Abstract: This disclosure provides systems and methods for low complexity quarter pel generation in motion search for video coding. The method can include storing full-pixel position information related to a plurality of rows of video information of a reference frame in a memory. The method can also include applying a vertical interpolation filter to the full-pixel position information for video information related to the reference frame to determine a first sub-pel position information. The method can also include applying a horizontal interpolation filter to the first sub-pel position information to determine a second sub-pel position information for the every other row of video data. The method can also include generating a syntax element indicating pixel motion of a current frame based on the first sub-pel position information. The method can also include encoding a block based on the generated syntax element.

Abstract: An example method includes determining a respective variance value for pixels of each respective sub-block of at least four sub-blocks of a current block of video data of a particular block size; determining an average of the determined variance values for the at least four sub-blocks; determining a maximum difference value for the current block based on the average and the variance values for the at least four sub-blocks; determining whether pixels of the current block are homogeneous based on whether the maximum difference value for the current block satisfies a threshold difference value; and in response to determining that the pixels of the current block are homogeneous, selectively including block sizes that are greater than or equal to a threshold block size in a sub-set of block sizes to evaluate for use when intra encoding the pixels of the current block.
