Abstract: This application discloses an inter prediction method and apparatus. The method includes: determining a plurality of first picture blocks in a to-be-processed picture block based on a preset picture split width, a preset picture split height, and a width and a height of the to-be-processed picture block; separately performing bi-directional optical flow prediction on the plurality of first picture blocks to obtain a predictor of each first picture block; and obtaining a predictor of the to-be-processed picture block with a combination of the predictors of the plurality of first picture blocks. The apparatus includes a determining module, a prediction module, and a combination module. In this application, complexity of implementing inter prediction can be reduced, and processing efficiency can be improved.

Abstract: This application provides a chroma block prediction method and apparatus. The method includes: obtaining a maximum luma value and a minimum luma value based on luma samples corresponding to neighboring samples of a target chroma block, and calculating a first difference between the maximum luma value and the minimum luma value; if the first difference is not equal to 0, processing the first difference based on a quantity of significant bits of the first difference and a first preset bit depth to obtain a second difference; and determining, based on a first chroma value, a second chroma value, and the second difference, an intra prediction model parameter corresponding to the target chroma block, and determining prediction information of the target chroma block based on the intra prediction model parameter and luma reconstruction information corresponding to the target chroma block.

Abstract: A method of obtaining a chrominance quantization parameter (QP) for chrominance components based on a luminance QP for a luminance component, wherein the method is performed by a decoder, and comprises parsing a received bitstream comprising a sequence parameter set (SPS) to obtain the luminance QP and information of a mapping function (ƒ) which associates a QP index (QPi) to a chrominance QP (QPc), wherein the chroma QP mapping table is signaled in the SPS; obtaining the QPi based at least in part on the luminance QP; obtaining the mapping function based on the obtained information of the mapping function; and obtaining a QPc based on the obtained mapping function and the obtained QPi.

Abstract: Apparatuses and methods for Intra Sub-Partitions (ISP) are provided. The method includes: obtaining information of ISP, and determining a size of a chroma transform block (TB) of the coding unit based on SubWidthC and SubHeightC when at least a first condition is fulfilled. The first condition includes the information of ISP indicates that ISP is used for splitting the luma coding block. SubWidthC and SubHeightC are variables depending on chroma format information. The chroma format information indicates a chroma format of a picture the coding unit belongs to. The method can apply to all chroma format. The chroma format includes at least one of: 4:2:0, or 4:2:2, or 4:4:4. An accurate and versatile way to determine the size of the chroma transform block for the ISP is achieved.

Abstract: Apparatuses and methods for intra predicting a block are described. The method of intra predicting a current block can include obtaining a predicted sample value from one or more reference sample values by using an intra prediction mode, obtaining at least one additional reference sample value in accordance with the intra prediction mode, and obtaining a thresholded additional reference sample value based on the additional reference sample value. The method can also include calculating an additional value from the thresholded additional reference sample value, multiplying the predicted sample value by a sample weighting factor, resulting in a weighted predicted sample value, adding the additional value to the weighted predicted sample value, resulting in a non-normalized predicted sample value, and normalizing the non-normalized predicted sample value, resulting in a normalized predicted sample values. The accuracy for the intra prediction is thus increased.

Abstract: Devices and methods of intra prediction of a block of a picture are provided. In various embodiments, information indicating an Intra Sub-Partitions (ISP) split type can be obtained. A value of a filter flag can be set based on the ISP split type. For instance, the value of the filter flag can be set to 0 when the ISP split type does not indicate not to split a current block. A set of coefficients of an interpolation filter can then be selected according to the value of the filter flag. For instance, fG coefficients or fC coefficients can be selected based on the value of the filter flag. Still in those embodiment, the selected set of coefficients can be applied to reference samples. In some embodiments, the method removes mode dependency during selection of interpolation filter type. This could increase encoding or decoding efficiency.
