Abstract: An approach for reducing transmission of probe car data over a network is provided. The approach includes using a processor to receive, at one or more processors remote from a vehicle, a first set of probe car data for the vehicle, wherein the first set of probe car data comprises a trigger event from a first time. The processor determine that no additional set of probe car data is received during a second time interval. The processor also determines that a trigger event has not occurred during the second time interval based on the determination that no additional set of probe car data was received. The processor also estimates an estimated probe car data for the vehicle at the second time interval based on the first set of probe car data and a non-trigger assumption.

Abstract: An assistance system modifies an operation of a vehicle component based on a Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) communication. A method includes receiving, by a remote vehicle, a request message inquiring what additional identifying information of an ego vehicle the remote vehicle requests so that the remote vehicle has a capacity to identify the ego vehicle as a transmitter of a V2X message. The method includes transmitting a response message including response data that describes the additional identifying information of the ego vehicle that provides the remote vehicle with the capacity to identify the ego vehicle as the transmitter of the V2X message when the ego vehicle is among a plurality of vehicles. The method includes receiving the V2X message that includes assistance data describing the additional identifying information. The method includes modifying the operation of the vehicle component of the remote vehicle based on the assistance data.

Abstract: A method of operating an autonomous vehicle includes detecting, based on an input received from a sensor of an autonomous vehicle that is being navigated by an on-board computer system, an occurrence of a driving event, making a determination by the on-board computer system, upon the detecting the occurrence of the driving event, whether or how to alter the path planned by the on-board computer system according to a set of rules, and performing further navigation of the autonomous vehicle based on the determination until the driving event is resolved. The driving event may include a presence of an object in a shoulder area of the road. The driving event may include accumulation of more than a certain number of vehicles behind the autonomous vehicle. The driving event may include a slow vehicle ahead of the autonomous vehicle. The driving event may include a do-not-change-lane zone is within a threshold.

Abstract: A monitoring system for a combination vehicle comprises at least one image capture device mounted on a tractor, which has a trailer mounted control system within its field of view. The trailer mounted control system has a visual indicator. A controller is associated with the at least one image capture device. The controller captures images of the visual indicator, determines if the visual indicator meets a predetermined event condition and provides notification to at least one of a driver of the tractor and a remote fleet operator in response to the visual indicator meeting the predetermined condition.

Abstract: A request for transport services that identifies a rider, an origin, and a destination is received from a client device. Eligibility of the request to be serviced by a vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) aircraft is determined based on the origin and the destination. A transportation system determines a first and a second hub for a leg of the transport request serviced by the VTOL aircraft and calculates a set of candidate routes from the first hub to the second hub. A provisioned route is selected from among the set of candidate routes based on network and environmental parameters and objectives including pre-determined acceptable noise levels, weather, and the presence and planned routes of other VTOL aircrafts along each of the candidate routes.

Abstract: A method and a system for determining a precise value of at least one pose parameter of an ego vessel, on which a camera is arranged, is provided. The method includes receiving image data of an image captured by the camera, the image showing at least one solid object and at least one solid object interface between the solid object and the sky, or between the solid object and a water surface of a waterbody, on which the ego vessel sails, determining a first representation of the solid object interface, determining a coarse position of the ego vessel, determining reference data based on the coarse position of the ego vessel, determining a second representation of the solid object interface from the reference data, determining a difference between the first and second representation, and determining the precise value of the pose parameter of the ego vessel depending on the difference.

Abstract: A driving support system includes a first monitoring device on a first object, the first monitoring device having a first controller, a first camera, and a first display, a second monitoring device on a second object, the second monitoring device having a second controller and a second camera, and a server in communication with the first and second monitoring devices. The first and second controllers each detect a target in images acquired from the respective first or second camera, calculate target information for the target, and transmit the target information to the server. The server generates list information including the target information from the first and second monitoring devices, and d transmits the list information to the first and second monitoring devices. The first controller further generates a map according to the list information received from the server, and displays the map on the first display.

Abstract: A method of reducing traffic congestion for a road network. The method includes predicting future traffic congestion levels for the road network based on historical traffic congestion levels for the road network. An individual contribution to the future traffic congestion levels for each of a plurality of drivers is predicted based on future routes corresponding to each of the plurality of drivers with the future routes including at least one road segment through the road network. At least one congested road segment is identified based on the future traffic congestion levels for the road network and the plurality of drivers with a highest individual contribution to the at least one congested road segment are identified. The plurality of drivers with the highest individual contributions to the at least one congested road segment are provided a first offer to avoid operating a vehicle on the road network.
