IN THIS MANNER, ALTERNATE ROLLERS FUNCTION AS MAGNETIC BRUSH DEVELOPING ROLLERS WHILE THE INTERMEDIATE ROLLERS FUNCTION AS DEVELOPER TRANSPORT ROLLERS TO MAGNETICALLY TRANSPORT THE DEVELOPER FROM ONE DEVELOPING ROLLER TO THE NEXT. WHEN A SUMP OF DEVELOPER IS PROVIDED ADJACENT THE LOWERMOST ROLLER, GRAVITY MAY BE UTILIZED TO RETURN DEVELOPER FROM THE UPPERMOST ROLLER TO THE SUMP. BAFFLES MAY ALSO BE EMPLOYED TO CROSS-MIX DEVELOPER RETURNING TO THE SUMP.

In this case, in the region of the applicator unit (12) there is provided a device (30) for producing an electric field, which exerts on the application medium jet (18) moving from the applicator unit (12) to the material web (20) a force which assists its movement. Additionally or alternatively, edge guiding elements can be provided, which guide the lateral edges of the application medium curtain (18) at least on part of its movement under the force of gravity.

An electrostatic spray gun for the application of paints and other coatings has a high voltage power supply having a contact at the front end thereof. A flange on the end of the power supply surrounds the contact and a rubber boot seal snaps over the flange. Located within the rubber boot is a conductive rubber pin which contacts with a conductor located in the barrel of the gun. Utilization of this design minimizes capacitance in the front end of the gun and also virtually eliminates air volume in the area which in turn limits the production of harmful ozone.

The electrodes, diverging surfaces which define a nozzle throat and diverge at an acute angle from the throat. Current passes through molten metal when fed through the throat which creates the Lorentz force necessary to provide atomization of the molten metal.
