The connector comprises a ferrule equipped with four cavities arranged in such a way that a front extremity of each cavity coincides with a rear extremity of a channel of the insulant in such a way that each strand connected to an end in the connector extends in a cavity of the ferrule and in a corresponding channel of the insulant. The invention also relates to a process for fitting the coaxial cables in such a connector.

An enclosure for an electrical connection between two high-voltage cables that includes an electrically nonconductive separator integral with a mounting base for receiving the high-voltage cables. An electrically nonconductive tubular cover extends over the electrical connection and the high-voltage cables and is releasably attached to the base. The separator has at least two resiliently mounted fingers, and the electrically nonconductive cover extends over the fingers to depress and move the fingers into contact with the high-voltage cables, thereby securing the high-voltage cables in the mounting base. The high-voltage cables are extended beyond the mounting base a distance equal to a desired spacing separating the electrical connection between the high-voltage cables and an electrical conductor associated with the mounting base. The tubular cover is transparent so that the electrical connection joining the high-voltage cables can be visually inspected through the cover.

A wire lead guide arrangement provided on a terminal housing of a communication connector. The terminal housing includes a base wall, and two rows of terminal posts disposed at opposite sides of the base wall. The terminal posts are configured to receive outside wire leads for establishing connections between the leads and connector terminals associated with the terminal posts. A wire guide structure in the form of a wall or bar extends between the two rows of terminal posts. The guide structure is configured to separate and prevent interaction between a first set of leads terminating at one row of the terminal posts, and a second set of leads terminating at the other row of terminal posts. The arrangement avoids variations in lead placement that might tend to degrade rated connector performance, particularly with respect to near end crosstalk (NEXT).

A high-voltage connector consists of a base connector mating a socket connector. The base connector (10) has: an insulated housing (11), input and output pin contacts (12,13), and a partition (16) dividing the housing into compartments (18,19) to accommodate the pin contacts. The pin contacts respectively consists of front portions (12a,13a) protruding into the housing's front opening (14) and rear portions (12b,13b) isolated by a middle rear extension (17) of the housing. The socket connector (30) has: a bifurcated housing (31), and a pair of socket contacts (32,33) held in this housing and securable on wire ends. The second housing is insertable into the front opening, causing the socket contacts to fit on the front portions. A recess (34) formed in the second housing is fittable on the partition, and two cylindrical chambers (35,36) formed in the housing (31) accommodate the socket contacts isolated and each lying on one side. One chamber (35) holding the input socket contact (12) is longer than the other chamber (36), such that the high-voltage connector contributes to the miniaturizing and thinning of the back-light inverters used with the liquid crystal panels, also improving high-voltage resisting property by virtue of elongated linear and spatial distances.

A plurality of first terminals is assembled to the first passageways from the rear face. Each terminal has an insulation displacement section extending beyond the rear face. At least a slot is defined in the rear face separating at least one terminal from the rest of the first terminals thereby preventing sparks generated from therebetween. A cover is assembled to the rear face enclosing the insulation displacement sections of the terminals. The cover includes a barrier received in the slot of the housing thereby eliminating sparks resulted when the one terminal carries high voltage.

One example may provide a plug having an inner cover that shields power carrying wires or terminals when an outer shell is damaged or destroyed. The inner cover may include openings to receive conductors, where the openings may lead to terminals or wires that connect to plug prongs. The received conductors may attach directly or indirectly to an outer shell, and further to a power cord, circuitry, or other electronic components. When the outer shell is damaged or destroyed, the conductors may pull out of the openings in the inner cover, thus disconnecting from the wires or terminals. The wires or terminals may thus remain protected by the inner shell, avoiding exposure to contact by users or inadvertent conductors.
