Abstract: Digital image selection techniques are described that employ machine learning to select a digital image of an object from a plurality of digital images of the object. The plurality of digital images each capture the object for inclusion as part of generating digital content, e.g., a webpage, a thumbnail to represent a digital video, and so on. In one example, digital image selection techniques are described that employ machine learning to select a digital image of an object from a plurality of digital images of the object. As a result, the service provider system may select a digital image of an object from a plurality of digital images of the object that has an increased likelihood of achieving a desired outcome and may address the multitude of different ways in which an object may be presented to a user.

Abstract: Disclosed embodiments may include a system for measuring document legibility. The system may automatically receive document image data from a user device. The system may then process the image data using optical character recognition to create language data containing a plurality of words. The system may then obtain an overall number by counting the plurality of words in the language data. The system may then identify and count the common words within the plurality of words by comparing the plurality of words to words in a database. A score may be obtained by dividing the common word number by the overall number. The score may then be compared to a legibility threshold. If the score is below the threshold, the system may determine the document is illegible. If the score is above the threshold, the system may determine the document is legible.

Abstract: An information providing device includes: an extractor that extracts identification information for identifying each of multiple materials and property values of each material from at least one piece of document information; a deriver that derives a confidence level for the property values of each material on the basis of a similarity of the property values between the material and one or more other materials; and an image processor that generates a first image in which the property values of each of the materials are (i) illustrated in a display mode according to the confidence level derived for the property values of the material and (ii) illustrated in association with the identification information of the material, and outputs the first image to a display.

Abstract: In multimedia object tracking and merging of tracked objects, an object is tracked through frames of multimedia content until a frame appears in which the tracked object is not detected. A first track is designated as one or more consecutive frames in which the tracked object is detected, the first track ending at the first frame. Tracking continues to try to detect the tracked object in a second frame subsequent to the first frame. If the tracked object is not again detected, information about the first track is output. If the tracked object is detected subsequently, a second track of consecutive tracked object detection is designated. The tracked objects in the two tracks are then compared with the aid of trained data models, and a matching score is determined to reflect the degree of match. If the matching score meets or exceeds a first threshold, the compared tracks are merged using the same identifier assigned to both tracks. If the matching score does not exceed a second threshold that is less than the first threshold, the tracks may be discarded as showing no match. If the matching score falls between the first and second thresholds, an indication is output for further analysis of the compared tracked objects.

Abstract: Aspects described herein may provide systems, methods, and device for facilitating language learning using videos. Subtitles may be displayed in a first, target language or a second, native language during display of the video. On a pause event, both the target language subtitle and the native language subtitle may be displayed simultaneously to facilitate understanding. While paused, a user may select an option to be provided with additional contextual information indicating usage and context associated with one or more words of the target language subtitle. The user may navigate through previous and next subtitles with additional contextual information while the video is paused. Other aspects may allow users to create auto-continuous video loops of definable duration, and may allow users to generate video segments by searching an entire database of subtitle text, and may allow users create, save, share, and search video loops.

Abstract: Disclosed embodiments pertain to automated payment splitting. A bill to a user for goods or services can be detected. Contacts that are collocated with the user can be determined via social media image analysis. A notification can be sent to the contacts to join a payment group. The payment group can be created upon receiving a response to the notification. A split payment rubric can be determined for the payment group. The split payment rubric can enumerate payment responsibilities of each person in the payment group using social media image analysis. Payment of the bill can be completed via a split payment amongst the payment group according to the split payment rubric.

Abstract: Certain embodiments involve using a machine-learning tool to generate metadata identifying segments and topics for text within a document. For instance, in some embodiments, a text processing system obtains input text and applies a segmentation-and-labeling model to the input text. The segmentation-and-labeling model is trained to generate a predicted segment for the input text using a segmentation network. The segmentation-and-labeling model is also trained to generate a topic for the predicted segment using a pooling network of the model to the predicted segment. The output of the model is usable for generating metadata identifying the predicted segment and the associated topic.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described for identifying and validating the routes and characteristics of roads unknown to a road mapping database. The systems and methods may combine feature recognition analysis of aerial images with other information sources such as location tracking information from a mobile device or client in order to improve the accuracy of road information stored within a road mapping database. The systems and methods may also facilitate the collection of additional information regarding the characteristics of the identified roads from a client device or user thereof.
