摘要: A method of coating the surface of semi-rigid porous materials such as open cell foam or fibrous compositions with a thermoplastic adhesive in powder form which will reactivate. The powdered adhesive in a size range of 0-600 microns will remain on the surface of such materials even when cell diameter of the foam or space between fibers is larger than adhesive particle size. High porosity is maintained in the coated product. First a thermoplastic adhesive in powder form is dispensed uniformly onto the surface of a carrier belt which is coated with a release agent and is moving continuously. The adhesive advances to a preheating station where the adhesive is plasticized and will adhere to the carrier belt to prevent movement, after which the foam or fibrous material is placed on the adhesive which is adhered to the belt. The adhesive and material advance to a second heating station where the adhesive is fully melted to allow the adhesive to bridge cells in the foam or space between fibers. The material and adhesive then advance to and through a cooling station where temperature of the adhesive and material are reduced to allow the adhesive to resolidify and the composite to release from the carrier belt and exit the machine.

摘要: The invention describes a hot-melt adhesive substance for the coating of fabrics, especially of lining materials of outer wear, comprising a hot-melt adhesive paste on a copolyester basis as the base layer and a covering layer of a hot-melt adhesive. The inventive hot-melt adhesive substance is characterized in that the hot-melt adhesive paste of the base layer contains a mixture of copolyester and low-pressure polyethylene. The covering layer of hot-melt adhesive preferably contains copolyamide. When using the inventive hot-melt adhesive substance, a raster-pattern coated fabric can be obtained in which the hot-melt adhesive substance has substantially improved adhesive strength as well as a high degree of washing and cleaning stability.

摘要: A composite piece 9 comprises at least two layers 3,5 of flexible materials which may be identical or different. Adjacent layers 3,5 are bonded by multiplicities of interposed thermoplastic beads 7 which lie equally spaced along parallel lines and adhere to both adjacent layers. The piece 9 may be made by passing layers 3,5 and an interposed thermoplastic (preferably high-density polyethylene) lattice having the form of beads linked by thin threads through a heated calendar 1,2, whereby the threads are melted away and the beads 7 heat-welded to the layers 3,5. One or both external faces may be dyed or printed simultaneously with the head-welding step by including transfer paper(s) 11,12 in the "sandwich" passed through the calendar. The composite pieces 9 may be applicable to e.g., furnishings and clothing, and especially to reversible garments.
