摘要: Apparatus and method for controlling an injection molding system having a plurality of devices which generate a corresponding plurality of feedback signals includes structure and steps for providing an operator control station which has a display and at least one operator input device. A single, general-purpose computer is coupled to both the operator control panel and the plurality of injection molding devices and functions to perform multiple-tasking control of both the injection molding functions and the operator control functions. The computer preferably performs real-time closed loop control of the plurality of injection molding devices while also processing system feedback signals and operator input signals. Thus, there is no need for the analog signal processor and the programmable logic controller of the prior art. Preferably, the single general purpose computer has local area network and internet connections to allow external control and feedback of the operating parameters of the injection molding system.

摘要: In a method of remote monitoring or remote maintenance of an injection molding machine which has an SPC with at least one CPU for the operation of actuators of the injection molding machine in real-time, data are transmitted between the injection molding machine and a remote monitoring or remote maintenance workstation disposed at a remote location. In addition to real-time control operation of the actuators of the injection molding machine the SPC of the injection molding machine operates as a web server, by way of which a simultaneous communication connection can be made with two or more remote monitoring or remote maintenance workstations, wherein a CPU of the SPC performs both real-time control operations of the injection molding machine and also server functions for remote monitoring or remote maintenance. In addition for data transmission between an SPC and an operating unit, having a microprocessor, of an injection molding machine, the SPC and the microprocessor of the operating unit can communicate by way of a local network in which the SPC forms a server and the operating unit forms a client.

摘要: A method of molding composite articles including arranging a pair of matched-tool mold sections in an opposed relationship, each mold section having a rigid housing and a thin, semi-rigid membrane removably and sealably mounted on the housing so as to define a fluid-tight chamber; filling the fluid-tight chambers with a non-compressible backing fluid; and accommodating thermal expansion of the backing fluid by an expansion chamber in fluid communication with the fluid tight chambers. The method further includes defining a mold plenum between the semi-rigid membranes when the mold sections are closed together; inserting reinforcement materials between the semi-rigid membranes prior to closing the mold sections; and injecting and curing a molding fluid after closing the mold sections. A step for regulating the temperature of the backing fluid may be included wherein a system of coils extend within each fluid tight chamber and wherein the coils are connected to an external heater/chiller unit and the coils are operative to circulate a temperature control fluid therethrough.

摘要: An apparatus for molding composite articles includes a pair of opposed matched-tool mold sections, each having a rigid housing and a thin, semi-rigid membrane removably and sealably mounted on the housing so as to define a fluid-tight chamber therein. The chamber of each mold section is filled with a noncompressible heat-conductive fluid to provide fluid backing to the portions of each membrane defining the molding surfaces of each mold section. A system of temperature control coils extending within each chamber are connected to an external heater/chiller unit to permit circulation therethrough of a suitable temperature control fluid, whereby positive control of the temperature of the backing fluid and, correlatively, the molding surfaces of the membranes.

摘要: A cooling method that involves circulating a liquid coolant through the motor housings and mounting surfaces for electrical/electronic components, such as the electric motors and associated electronic drives, in electric plastic processing machines. Specifically, the motors are provided with a housing having an integral heat exchanger, such as stainless steel tubing cast into a cylindrical aluminum stator housing. The various electrical/electronic components are mounted to the surface of a plate type heat exchanger (chill plate) that is contained within the electrical cabinet for the primary electrical circuitry. In addition, the air within the electrical cabinet is continually circulated over the chill plate to provide a more uniform temperature distribution within the enclosure and minimize condensation on the surface of the plate. The heat generated by the motors and electronics is absorbed from the motor housings and chill plate by the circulating liquid and released through a heat exchanger.
