Abstract: A decubitus ulcers prevention garment for decreasing the skin pressure on a select body area of the population at risk for decubitus may be provided. The garment may be similar in shape to boxer briefs and composed of strategically mapped air cells for the patients' bilateral hips, proximal thighs and gluteal region wrapping posteriorly, targeting anatomic points including greater trochanteric, ischial tuberosities, posterior iliac spines, sacrum and coccyx. The air cell arrangement may allow for patterned inflation and deflation thereby off loading and loading particular areas. As air cells are cycled through inflation and deflation, skin pressure may be decreased thereby preventing focal pressure and local tissue ischemia resulting in necrosis.

Abstract: The present disclosure is generally directed to systems, devices, and methods for compressing the pelvis with alternating compressive air compartments by encircling the hip region of the patient. In some examples, a device may be applied to a person with a traumatic pelvic injury. A main body may include a strong flexible material such as neoprene and may have the general shape of a wide belt or pelvic girdle. The interior or exterior aspect of the binder may be composed of one or many straps that extend from one end of the binder and are looped through buckles on the other end of the binder and may therefore allow for tightening of the binder upon itself for compression. The end of the strap may contain a fastening device to affix the end of the strap to itself after the strap has been looped through the buckle.

Abstract: Described herein are systems and apparatuses for enhanced comfort through contact pressure reduction. In particular, the systems and apparatuses disclosed herein prevent or otherwise mitigate pressure by actively orienting a patient over an anatomy-specific pressure-mitigating contact surface on which the patient rests. A pressure-mitigating contact portion of the contact surface includes a plurality of independently pressurized chambers configured in a specific geometric pattern that is designed to mitigate contact pressure between a support surface (e.g., bed or chair) and a specific anatomic region of a patient's body when the specific anatomic region of the patient's body is oriented over an epicenter of the geometric pattern. In one embodiment, the geometric pattern includes a first independently pressurized relief chamber that intersects the epicenter of the geographic pattern, and second and third independently pressurized relief chambers that collectively encompass the first independently pressurized relief chamber.

Abstract: A pressure bandage comprising an elastic band having a first end comprising a pocket member and a second end that is removably attachable to the first end. An inflatable bladder is placed in the pocket member and provides a substantially uniform pressure over a wound area when the band is placed on a patient and the bladder is inflated. The bladder is connected to a tube element which is used to inflate the bladder to the desired pressure. The elastic band may include a shoulder strap and may wrap over a patient's shoulder, across the patient's chest, and under the patient's opposite arm. The bottom side of the elastic band (facing the patient) may be made of a soft, absorptive material, and the bottom side of the pocket member may include an expandable mesh.

Abstract: An orthopedic system includes a base shell forming an opening over a dorsal aspect thereof and a dorsal shell contoured to generally correspond to the opening of the base shell. The base shell has a proximal member and a distal member connected to the proximal member, each has a semi-rigid shell configuration to protect and support a lower leg, an ankle, or a foot of a user when received in the orthopedic system. A flexible toe portion is attached to a distal terminal end area of the distal member and formed of a different material than the distal member. The flexible toe portion is arranged to terminate above an upper surface of the user's toes and to flex relative to the distal member and the toes so as to reduce the likelihood of pressure points on the toes from the distal member.

Abstract: The automated posture correction system comprises a spinal brace and an electronic device. The spinal brace configured to be worn by the user comprises inflatable elements and at least one actuator. The inflatable elements, positioned along the length of the predetermined sections of the spinal area of the user, comprise sensors for detecting one or more parameters of the spinal area. The electronic device receives sensor data variables generated by the sensors based on the detected parameters via a communications network. The electronic device compares the parameters with a set of preset reference values stored in memory unit. The electronic device actuates the actuator to inflate or deflate the inflatable elements based on the sensor data variables differing from the set of preset reference values. The inflatable elements selectively apply force on the predetermined sections of the spinal area for dynamically improving the posture of the user.
