Abstract: Aspects relate to mechanisms for wireless communication devices to update satellite and beam specific information. A user equipment (UE) selects a first cell associated with a first satellite for wireless communication in the non-terrestrial network. The UE determines whether to use one or more standard parameters or one or more satellite-cell specific parameters for accessing the first cell. The one or more standard parameters are based on one or more standard characteristics common to a plurality of satellites including the first satellite. The one or more satellite-cell specific parameters are based on a change to at least one standard characteristic of the one or more standard characteristics of the first satellite.

The UE may receive, from the network, a configuration of one or more channel sounding messages for one or more directional beams, where each directional beam of the one or more directional beams is associated with a set of narrowband carriers, and each of the one or more channel sounding messages being configured for transmission on a narrowband carrier of the set of narrowband carriers. The UE may determine a trigger for transmitting the one or more channel sounding messaged based at least in part on the configuration and transmit, to the network, the one or more channel sounding messages on respective narrowband carriers in accordance with the trigger and the configuration.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A serving base station or a serving satellite may transmit a timing configuration to the UE based on a reference unit, such as a location at a beam center for a respective satellite, a threshold distance relative to the beam center for the respective satellite, a reference time, or any combination thereof. In some cases, the UE may monitor for one or more SSBs from the neighboring satellites according to the timing configuration and a respective propagation delay between the UE and each of the neighboring satellites. The UE may measure the SSBs according to the measurement gap and measurement window in the timing configuration. In some examples, the UE may perform a cell handover procedure or a cell reselection procedure based on measuring the SSBs.

A user equipment (UE) may receive a message from a first non-terrestrial network cell indicating cell synchronization information for a second non-terrestrial network cell. In some examples, the cell synchronization information may indicate whether the first non-terrestrial network cell and the second non-terrestrial network cell are synchronized at a reference point. Additionally, or alternatively, the cell synchronization information may indicate a timing offset value between a first uplink time synchronization reference point of the first non-terrestrial network cell and a second uplink time synchronization reference point of the second non-terrestrial network cell. The UE may calculate a timing associated with signaling from the second non-terrestrial network cell based at least in part on the cell synchronization information. The UE may receive one or more signals from the second non-terrestrial network cell based at least in part on the calculated timing.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A communication device, otherwise known as a user equipment (UE) may transmit a random access message (e.g., a message 3) associated with a random access procedure. A hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) feedback may be disabled for the random access procedure. The UE may initiate a contention resolution window associated with the random access procedure for a first downlink data channel transmission of a set of downlink data channel transmissions associated with the random access procedure. The UE may receive, during the contention resolution window, the first downlink data channel transmission carrying a contention resolution medium access control-control element (MAC-CE). The UE may transmit acknowledgment information for the first downlink data channel transmission carrying the contention resolution MAC-CE based on an indication to enable the HARQ feedback.
