An exemplary method generally generating a request to establish at least one data network (DN) session for providing connectivity between the UE and a DN, wherein the at least one DN session supports a plurality of data sessions for enabling communication between one or more local endpoints in the UE and one or more endpoints in the DN, wherein each data session of the plurality of data sessions supports one or more connectivity requirements specified by the UE, wherein a first data session of the plurality of data sessions is associated with a first gateway, and wherein a second data session of the plurality of data sessions is associated with a second gateway, and transmitting the request to establish the at least one DN session.

Abstract: Techniques for modification of data sessions may allow changing of user plane functions (UPFs) that serve a data session. A UE may identify a user plane of a first data session is to be relocated from a first UPF, and may initiate a second data session with a second UPF using an identification associated with the first data session. In some cases, the first data session may be modified to be served by the second UPF rather than the first UPF. A network entity, such as a session management function (SMF) may determine that a user plane of a first data session of a UE is to be relocated away from a first UPF, and may perform a user plane relocation of the first data session via establishing a second data session at a second UPF or via modifying the first data session to be served by a second UPF.

Abstract: In aspects of the disclosure, a method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided. In one aspect, the apparatus determines if a connection to a PLMN has been established. In another aspect, the apparatus builds a FQDN based on the determination by attempting to build the FQDN using each of the prioritized FQDNs in order of priority until the FQDN is built, building the FQDN using a PLMN ID of the PLMN if it is determined that the PLMN is found in the list, or building the FQDN based on the wildcard PLMN if it is determined that the list comprises the wildcard PLMN. Further still, the apparatus selects a network security gateway to provide network security and internet working control based on the FQDN.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) offloading through radio access network rules. In one embodiment of a method of wireless communication, a mobile device may determine that Radio Access Network (RAN) assistance information is unavailable, the RAN assistance information including a first set of thresholds for switching a Packet Data Network (PDN) connection of the mobile device from a WLAN to a Wireless Wide Area Network (WWAN). The mobile device may further access a second set of thresholds based at least in part on the determining, and the mobile device may determine to switch the PDN connection from the WLAN to the WWAN based at least in part on the second set of thresholds.

Abstract: A method, operational at a network device, for conveying congestion information across different strata of a multi-strata network is provided. An indication is obtained that a congestion level for at least one of a radio access network node and a core network node of a network has changed. Consequently, a one or more service parameters for a plurality of services, operating at a service stratum, are updated or adjusted on a per service basis based on the congestion level indication. The one or more service parameters are provided or sent to, at least one of, a node operating at a service stratum or a user device that obtains services over the network.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A wireless device transmits an indication of whether the device should be paged over a 3GPP access when a core network has data ready to transmit for PDU sessions over a non-3GPP access. A session management function (SMF) of the core network receives a data notification indicating that the core network has data ready to transmit to the wireless device for a PDU session over the non-3GPP access. The SMF determines whether to transmit a paging request to an access and mobility management function (AMF) of the core network based on a paging state of the SMG, a paging state of the wireless device, or a connection management idleness state of the wireless device. The AMF determines whether to transmit a paging message to the wireless device.
