Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a transmitter device may transmit a hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) communication using a first code block order for code blocks of the HARQ communication; detect a trigger to retransmit the HARQ communication based at least in part on transmitting the HARQ communication; reorder the code blocks of the HARQ communication based at least in part on detecting the trigger to retransmit the HARQ communication; and retransmit the HARQ communication using a second code block order based at least in part on reordering the code blocks of the HARQ communication. Numerous other aspects are provided.

A user equipment (UE) may enter a lower power mode of operation, and may receive, from a base station, a non-coherent signal while the UE is operating in the lower power mode. The UE may identify an indication to transition from the lower power mode to a higher power mode of operation based at least in part on receiving the non-coherent signal. The UE may enter the higher power mode based at least in part on identifying the indication.

Abstract: In some aspects, a UE may select a first type of antenna for communication with a base station based at least in part on a beam management procedure that uses an RSRP parameter determined using a downlink reference signal associated with a single antenna port; measure a CSI-RS resource for CSF, associated with multiple antenna ports, using a second type of antenna and after selecting the first type of antenna; compare a first spectral efficiency parameter associated with communicating using the first type of antenna and a second spectral efficiency parameter determined based at least in part on measuring the CSI-RS resource for CSF using the second type of antenna; and select one of the first type of antenna or the second type of antenna for subsequent communication with the base station based at least in part on comparing the first spectral efficiency parameter and the second spectral efficiency parameter.

Abstract: Methods related to wireless communication systems and the transmission of code blocks on such systems are provided. A wireless communication device interleaves a plurality of code block segments in time and frequency. The segments are interleaved by mapping a first code block segment of the plurality of code block segments to a first resource located at a first time and a first frequency, wherein the first code block segment is associated with a first code block, and mapping a second code block segment of the plurality of code block segments to a second resource based on at least one of the first time or the first frequency of the first resource and a code block proximity parameter, wherein the second code block segment is associated with a second code block different from the first code block. The device then transmits the plurality of interleaved code block segments. Other features are also claimed and described.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some systems, a user equipment (UE) may monitor sets of decoding candidates over a search space in each monitoring occasion to detect downlink control transmissions. Such a monitoring process may be resource intensive. To reduce the processing power involved in monitoring the control channel, a UE may measure resources associated with the downlink control channel to obtain a quality metric. The UE may compare the quality metric to one or more thresholds and may perform a decoding process on a set of configured decoding candidates for the downlink control channel based on the comparing. In some cases, if the channel quality is relatively good, the UE may perform a list decoding process using a list size less than a maximum list size or may perform partial data tone processing to reduce the processing complexity for some of the decoding candidates.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A wireless device may receive, using a first receive port, a first signal within a first frequency band, where the first receive port may be associated with a first receive beam. The wireless device may also receive, using a second receive port, a second signal within the first frequency band concurrently with receiving the first signal, where the second receive port may be associated with a second receive beam. After receiving the first and second signals, the wireless device may process both signals. Processing the signals may include decoding both of the signals, measuring both of the signals, and/or decoding one of the signals and measuring the other of the signals. To support concurrent reception over multiple receive beams within a single frequency band, the wireless device may employ an idle antenna panel and corresponding receive ports.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. Generally, the described techniques provide for efficiently reporting channel state feedback for a set of subbands. As an example, a user equipment (UE) may receive a set of reference signals on the set of subbands and determine a respective channel quality indicator (CQI) index for each of the set of subbands based on the reference signals. The UE may then transmit indications of CQI indices for different subbands of the set using variable length indications, such as indications that include different numbers of bits. Since, in some examples, a small length or number of bits may be allocated for reporting CQI indices with a high probability of being reported, overhead in a wireless communications system may be reduced.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A base station may configure multiple phase tracking reference signal (PTRS) patterns in a single time interval (e.g., a slot) to improve phase tracking and phase noise estimation. The base station may transmit control signaling indicating multiple PTRS patterns for the time interval, and a user equipment (UE) may monitor for PTRSs in the time interval according to the indicated patterns to estimate a phase for receiving a downlink message from the base station. In some examples, the UE may signal a list of preferred PTRS patterns for the base station to use based on channel conditions. For example, the UE may transmit a report indicating one or more preferred PTRS patterns and a respective quantity of symbols in which the base station is to use each pattern.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some examples, a first device may combine, for each of a set of sub-blocks of a block of data, a set of unencoded bits associated with a respective sub-block with a matrix to generate a set of encoded bits. The first device may transmit a first message including the block to a second device. The second device may determine respective probabilities of successful decoding of respective selected candidate codewords for the set of sub-blocks of the block based on receiving the first message and may transmit one or more indicators associated with one or more sub-blocks based on the respective probabilities of successful decoding of the respective selected candidate codewords. The first device may transmit a second message including redundancy information for the one or more sub-blocks based on transmitting the one or more indicators.
