An apparatus and a method for reducing battery consumption of a mobile terminal are provided. The method includes calculating a current location of the mobile terminal, route information to a destination, and an alarm period for determining whether the mobile terminal has arrived at the destination or at a nearby region of the destination, if the destination is input, and deactivating a locating module before the alarm period has elapsed, determining whether the mobile terminal has arrived at the destination or the nearby region of the destination if the alarm period has elapsed, and notifying the user that the mobile terminal has arrived at the destination or the nearby region of the destination if the mobile terminal has arrived at the destination or the nearby region of the destination.

A method for embedding digital information into an audio signal, is provided. The method includes dividing the digital information into low-priority data and high-priority data; dividing the audio signal into first and second signal parts; embedding at least one echo signal into the first signal part; embedding a communication signal modulated with low-priority data, which has a spectrum according to psychoacoustic analysis of the second signal part, into the second signal part; and combining the embedded first and second signal parts.

Context recognition methods and apparatus are provided for an application processor and a micro control unit. It is determined whether an operation switch condition for switching to a sleep mode is satisfied. A request for execution of a context recognition function is sent to a micro control unit, when the operation switch condition is satisfied. The application processor switches to the sleep mode, when the context recognition function is executed by the micro control unit. The micro control unit collects sensor data at previously stored time intervals, and previously stored state information is updated based on the sensor data.

The electronic device includes at least one sensor, a reception module and a route information providing module, which executes the method, including determining, by the reception module, a present location as a first location in response to detecting occurrence of a first predetermined event, acquiring movement information by the at least one sensor when the electronic device moves from the first location, after moving from the first location, determining, by the reception module, a new present location as a second location in response to occurrence of a second predetermined event, the determination of the new present location including acquiring geographical location information corresponding to the second location, and generating route information corresponding to at least one interval between the first location and the second location based on at least a part of the acquired movement information and at least a part of the geographical location information.

The wireless connection method includes receiving a first hash value through the out of band channel, receiving device identification information of electronic devices in proximity to an electronic device through a main wireless channel, calculating hash values of the device identification information, and performing a wireless connection of the electronic device with a surrounding electronic device that has the hash value identical to the first hash value among the calculated hash values.
