Abstract: A device includes at least a first and a second antenna array module. The first antenna array module serves a first frequency band, the first antenna array module having a first antenna array surface that is substantially perpendicular to a first boresight and oriented substantially parallel to a first surface of the device adjacent to the first antenna array module, the second antenna array module serves a second frequency band, the second antenna array module having a second antenna array surface that is substantially perpendicular to a second boresight and oriented at an angle relative to a second surface of the wireless communication device adjacent to the second antenna array module, and the device transmits an indication of a set of transmission configuration indicator (TCI) states for use in the first frequency band and the second frequency band, the set of TCI states being selected based on the angle.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that provide for the management of different operation modes in wireless systems. For example, wireless device(s) may operate in a high pathloss operation mode or a normal pathloss operation mode based on the pathloss experienced between the transmitting and receiving devices. In some cases, a first wireless device may transmit a message to a second wireless device to configure a bandwidth part (BWP) for high pathloss mode communications. The message may be transmitted via control signaling and after receipt of the message, the second wireless device may enter a high pathloss mode for communications with the first wireless device (e.g., after a given time duration). Some parameters may be configurable (e.g., transmission duration, coding scheme) between high pathloss mode and normal pathloss mode, while other parameters may remain the same (e.g., processing time, switching time).

The base station may transmit, based at least in part on the data being available, a second wakeup message using a second band supported by the UE, the second band being different from the first band.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. In some systems, a user equipment (UE) may receive a control message indicating a reference signal configuration for beam calibration by the UE based on a beamforming characterization status. The UE may receive a set of beam calibration reference signals based on the reference signal configuration. The UE may measure the set of beam calibration reference signals and generate a set of beamforming weights for use in communications by the UE based on the measuring and the beamforming characterization status. In some cases, the UE may transmit or forward a beamforming codebook based on the beamforming weights to a network entity. The network entity or the UE may forward the beamforming codebook to other UEs of a same design class as the UE.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. To reduce peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) associated with transmissions in a wireless communications system, a user equipment (UE) may implement tone reservation techniques. The UE may receive downlink control information from a base station that indicates a set of allocated resources that the UE is to use for the tone reservation. The UE may identify a first set of tones of the set of allocated resources for transmitting a data signal and a second set of tones of the set of allocated resources for transmitting a peak-reduction signal that reduces the peak power of the data signal. The UE may transmit the data signal and the peak-reduction signal based on the received downlink control information.

A communication device may receive control signaling indicating a configuration for reporting a set of beam angle measurement values between at least two beams relative to a respective beam of a set of beams and a phase difference measurement value between post-beamformed channel phases using the at least two beams of the set of beams. In some examples, the communication device may determine a set of reference signal received power (RSRP) measurement values associated with the at least two beams of the set of beams. The communication device may transmit a report including the set of beam angle measurement values and the phase difference measurement value based on receiving the control signaling indicating the configuration. For example, the communication device may report the RSRP measurement values associated with the at least two beams of the set of beams.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. To support a reliable array response for wideband communications, a base station may configure a set of transmission instances for a set of signals distributed across a wideband carrier bandwidth. At least one transmission instance of the set of transmission instances may be configured in each sub-band of the carrier bandwidth. The base station may transmit the set of signals in the configured transmission instances to a user equipment (UE). The UE may receive the set of signals distributed across the carrier bandwidth and may measure, for the signals, a set of signal measurements corresponding to the set of sub-bands. Based on the signal measurements, the UE may determine a set of communication beams for the set of sub-bands. Using one or more of the determined communication beams, the UE may communicate with the base station in the carrier bandwidth.
