Abstract:
This document discloses a solution for controlling connectivity of a dormant station. According to an aspect, a method comprises: entering, by a station of a wireless network, a dormant mode in which a main radio interface of the station is disabled and a wake-up radio interface of the station is enabled; scanning, by the station, for a beacon signal by using the wake-up radio interface in the dormant mode and determining, as a result of said scanning that no beacon signal is detected; as a response to said determining, switching by the station from the dormant mode, enabling the main radio interface, and transmitting to a wireless device a frame comprising an information element indicating incapability of detecting said beacon signal; and receiving, by the station from the wireless device, a frame indicating improved conditions for detecting a further beacon signal and, upon reception of the message, returning by the station to the dormant mode.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for detecting, by a first device, a timing measurement frame from a second device, the timing measurement frame having a plurality of time measurement samples, wherein at least the first of the measurement samples has a transmit timestamp value; determining transmit timing values for the subsequent measurement samples; applying a receive timestamp value to each of the received measurement samples; and determining a relative clock drift between a clock of the first device and a clock of the second device by comparing the receive timestamp values with transmit timing values of one or more measurement samples contained in the frame.
Abstract:

In example embodiments, a method comprises receiving first synchronization messages from a wireless device transmitting synchronization messages in a first neighbor awareness network cluster, the first synchronization messages including a first hop count value to a first anchor master in the first cluster and information describing a first master rank value of the first anchor master; receiving second synchronization messages from a wireless device transmitting synchronization messages in a second neighbor awareness network cluster, the second synchronization messages including a second hop count value to a second anchor master in the second cluster and information describing a second master rank value of the second anchor master; and selecting the first neighbor awareness network cluster or the second neighbor awareness network cluster, based on at least one of the first and second hop count values and the first and second master rank values.
Abstract:
This document discloses a solution for selecting a network discovery method in an apparatus. According to an aspect, the apparatus performs the following: performing initial channel assessment of a radio channel at maximum a determined time period shorter than or equal to the shortest of a plurality of discovery frame broadcast periodicities employed by access nodes the apparatus is configured to search for in network discovery; upon determining that a transmission has been detected in the initial channel assessment, selecting a network discovery according to a first network discovery method; and upon detecting no transmission on the radio channel during the initial channel assessment, selecting network discovery according to a second network discovery method different from the first network discovery method
Abstract:
An example method comprises receiving by an apparatus, a message from an access node, including at least one of a delay value indicating a duration to wait before beginning to contend for access to the wireless network by a random backoff procedure to get a transmission opportunity, and an indication whether or not the apparatus is to use a predefined delay value to wait before beginning to contend for access; determining whether to use the delay value to wait before beginning to contend for access to the wireless network; waiting for a duration represented by the delay value, when the apparatus has data to transmit over the wireless network; and beginning to contend for access to the wireless network by a random backoff procedure after the wait duration, before initiating transmission.
Abstract:
This document discloses a solution for detecting a transmission opportunity. According to an aspect, a method comprises as performed by an apparatus of a first wireless network: detecting a first transmission from a first apparatus of a second wireless network different from the first wireless network; transmitting, to a second apparatus of the first wireless network, a transmission mode request, wherein the transmission mode request indicates a request to transmit from the apparatus to the second apparatus at least during an interframe space of a transmission opportunity between the first apparatus and another apparatus of the second wireless network, receiving a transmission mode response from the second apparatus, wherein the transmission mode response indicates acceptance of the request; in response to detecting a second transmission from the first apparatus, transmitting a data frame during an interframe space following the second transmission.
Abstract:
A method, apparatus and computer program product are provided for facilitating efficient patient identification in conjunction with an emergency call. In regards to a method, an emergency call from an intermediary device is received, and a search for one or more potential patient devices in proximity to an intermediary device is initialized. The method also includes receiving a unique identifier associated with a patient device from among the one or more potential patient devices. Further, the method retrieves medical information or medical record for a patient associated with the unique identifier. A corresponding apparatus and computer program product are also provided. Either Bluetooth Low Energy or WI-FI Aware are used. The mobility status comprising acceleration information of each patient device is transmitted.
Abstract:
This document discloses a solution for providing channel usage information. In an embodiment, an apparatus managing a wireless network and being in an unassociated state towards an access node managing another wireless network is provided with the channel usage information. The channel usage information is provided together with a further information element enabling the apparatus to verify that the channel usage information originates from a trusted source.
Abstract:
According to an example aspect of the present invention, there is provided a method, comprising: transmitting an association request from a wireless device to a first access node of a wireless network for associating the wireless device to the wireless network, wherein the wireless network comprises a centralized unit and a plurality of access nodes, including the first access node, receiving an association response from the first access node for associating the wireless device to the wireless network, performing carrier sensing on a plurality of channels; selecting a second access node among the plurality of access nodes in response to obtaining a transmission opportunity for a channel of the plurality of channels, wherein the selecting is based at least partly on a record of ongoing transmission opportunities, and transmitting data from the wireless device to the second access node during the transmission opportunity.
Abstract:
A method, apparatus and computer program product are provided for displaying messages by reducing a reflectivity of a display. A display, such as a smart mirror, provides reflective properties and digital information. The reflectivity of some portions of the display may be altered such that the display provides the visual effect of steam. By varying the reflectivity in different portions of the display, messages may be provided via the display so as to appear written in the steam. Trigger actions, such as a user entering the vicinity, the detected sound of miming water, and/or the like, may cause the visual effect of steam or display of the message. A user may provide a message by a hand gesture, or writing the message in the air and see the message at is provided via a display. Users may transmit messages to other users, and may view received messages in the display.
