Abstract:
This document discloses a solution for controlling connectivity of a dormant station. According to an aspect, a method comprises: entering, by a station of a wireless network, a dormant mode in which a main radio interface of the station is disabled and a wake-up radio interface of the station is enabled; scanning, by the station, for a beacon signal by using the wake-up radio interface in the dormant mode and determining, as a result of said scanning that no beacon signal is detected; as a response to said determining, switching by the station from the dormant mode, enabling the main radio interface, and transmitting to a wireless device a frame comprising an information element indicating incapability of detecting said beacon signal; and receiving, by the station from the wireless device, a frame indicating improved conditions for detecting a further beacon signal and, upon reception of the message, returning by the station to the dormant mode.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for detecting, by a first device, a timing measurement frame from a second device, the timing measurement frame having a plurality of time measurement samples, wherein at least the first of the measurement samples has a transmit timestamp value; determining transmit timing values for the subsequent measurement samples; applying a receive timestamp value to each of the received measurement samples; and determining a relative clock drift between a clock of the first device and a clock of the second device by comparing the receive timestamp values with transmit timing values of one or more measurement samples contained in the frame.
Abstract:
An example method comprises receiving by an apparatus, a message from an access node, including at least one of a delay value indicating a duration to wait before beginning to contend for access to the wireless network by a random backoff procedure to get a transmission opportunity, and an indication whether or not the apparatus is to use a predefined delay value to wait before beginning to contend for access; determining whether to use the delay value to wait before beginning to contend for access to the wireless network; waiting for a duration represented by the delay value, when the apparatus has data to transmit over the wireless network; and beginning to contend for access to the wireless network by a random backoff procedure after the wait duration, before initiating transmission.
Abstract:
According to an example aspect of the present invention, there is provided a method, comprising: establishing, via a main radio, a data link schedule comprising a plurality of communication resource periods for a data link between a first wireless device and a second wireless device, wherein at least a sub-set of the plurality of communication resource periods are scheduled to start periodically, pausing data transmission by transferring, via the main radio, a control message during a communication resource period of the data link schedule, entering the power save mode in response to transferring the control message, maintaining the power save mode over at least one further communication resource period of the data link schedule, and transmitting a wake-up frame, via a wake-up radio different from the main radio, in response to detecting need for further data transmission during the data link schedule.
Abstract:
A wireless node, such as an access point or a user equipment, includes a transceiver configured to transmit during a first frame in a first time interval and a second frame in a second time interval. The first and second time intervals are separated by an interframe space (IFS). The wireless node also includes a processor configured to generate a sensing waveform. The transceiver transmits the sensing waveform during the IFS. In some cases, the processor is configured to switch the transceiver from a transmit mode during the first time interval to a receive mode during the IFS. The transceiver receives a sensing waveform from a wireless node during the IFS.
Abstract:
A method, apparatus and computer program product are provided for displaying messages by reducing a reflectivity of a display. A display, such as a smart mirror, provides reflective properties and digital information. The reflectivity of some portions of the display may be altered such that the display provides the visual effect of steam. By varying the reflectivity in different portions of the display, messages may be provided via the display so as to appear written in the steam. Trigger actions, such as a user entering the vicinity, the detected sound of miming water, and/or the like, may cause the visual effect of steam or display of the message. A user may provide a message by a hand gesture, or writing the message in the air and see the message at is provided via a display. Users may transmit messages to other users, and may view received messages in the display.
Abstract:
Embodiments enable communication between access point devices operating in a neighbor awareness network cluster. A method comprises composing, by an access point device responsible for coordinating communication in a first wireless network, a service ID indicating support for communication with other access point devices operating in a second neighbor awareness network, wherein the access point device is capable of concurrently operating as an access point in the first wireless network and participating in the second neighbor awareness network; and transmitting, by the access point device, a wireless service discovery frame to the second neighbor awareness network, the service discovery frame including the composed service ID.
Abstract:
Transmission of delay tolerant data. An apparatus includes a processor configured to classify data, on the basis of its delay requirement, into delay tolerant data and into delay critical data, and to control transmission of the delay tolerant data with a transmitter in such a manner that the transmission of the delay tolerant data is timed to coincide with transmission of the delay critical data.
