摘要:
An apparatus is described for cleaning papermaking felt by applying a low concentration of a cleaning solution through the oscillating needle nozzles. The detergent is applied intermittently while paper is being manufactured. Each cleaning period lasts for at least the length of time required for the nozzles to cover the entire surface of the felt, and preferably twice that period of time. The application of cleaning solution is then discontinued for a period of time. This cycle is repeated continuously as the paper is being manufactured. The apparatus includes a first cleaning chemical reservoir, a second cleaning chemical reservoir, a high pressure pump coupled to the first and second reservoirs, and a control unit having programming for selectively injecting the chemicals.

The detergent is applied intermittently while paper is being manufactured. Each cleaning period lasts for at least the length of time required for the nozzles to cover the entire surface of the felt, and preferably twice that period of time. The application of cleaning solution is then discontinued for a period of time, generally equal to the time the cleaning detergent is applied to the felt. This cycle is repeated continuously as the paper is being manufactured. The chemistry of the cleaning solution can be changed, for example, from acidic to basic, alternately, to enhance cleaning performance.

The present invention relates to systems, compositions, and methods for the detection and characterization of nucleic acid sequences and variations in nucleic acid sequences. The present invention relates to methods for attaching nucleic acids to solid supports and modifying nucleic acids. For example, in some embodiments, the 5′ nuclease activity of a cleavage agent is used to cleave a cleavage structure formed on the solid support, the occurrence of the cleavage event indicating the presence of specific nucleic acid sequences.

Disclosed are a method and a corresponding composition of matter for detecting single nucleotide polymorphisms. The composition of matter includes a metal substrate, a probe oligonucleotide immobilized on the substrate; and an upstream oligonucleotide either immobilized on the substrate or in a solution in contact with the substrate. The probe oligonucleotide and the upstream oligonucleotide participate cooperatively in an invasive cleavage reaction when the substrate is contacted with a cleavage agent and a target nucleic acid. Under proper reactions conditions, the probe oligonucleotide, the upstream oligonucleotide, the target nucleotide, and the cleavage agent cooperative result in the formation of a cleavage product at or near the location of a single nucleotide polymorphism of interest.

The present invention relates to film-immobilized capture particles, and substrates coated with film-immobilized capture particles. In particular, the present invention provides microarrays for detecting the presence or absence of a target in a sample employing film-immobilized capture particles. In preferred embodiments, the present provides very high density arrays that allow simultaneous analysis on a number of samples.
