摘要: A GaN based LED, with an active region of the LED containing one or more quantum wells (QWs), with the QWs separated by higher energy barriers, with some of the barriers doped and some of the barriers not doped, may be driven at high data rates with low drive current densities. Preferably the barriers that are not doped are the barriers closest to one side of a p region or an n region of the LED. With Mg doping, preferably the barriers that are not doped are the barriers closest to the p region of the LED.

摘要: A coherent optical data receiver having a digital signal processor (DSP) capable of mitigating equalization-enhanced phase noise (EEPN). In an example embodiment, the DSP mitigates EEPN by applying individual phase adjustments to different spectral slices of a digital stream carrying CD-compensated digital samples of the received optical data signal. In different embodiments, the individual phase adjustments can be dynamically selected based on symbol decisions taken prior to EEPN mitigation, based on transmitted pilot symbols, and/or using moving averages computed for different spectral slices. Some embodiments are suitable for handling polarization-division-multiplexed optical data signals. Some embodiments are advantageously capable of producing an effective SNR gain of approximately 1 dB.

摘要: Because of the line-of-sight character of optical wireless communication and a limited field-of-view of optical receivers, the coverage of an access point and the overlapping coverage area of adjacent access points in an optical system are smaller as compared to a RF system. It turns more challenging to support an end point (110) to roam securely in an optical multi-cell wireless communication network. To speed up the derivation of a new pairwise transient key with a new access point during a handover procedure, the end point of this invention comprises a controller (118) that is configured to act as a second supplicant (1181), on behalf of a first supplicant (1186) comprised in a host processor (1185), to communicate with an authenticator to establish a new pairwise transient key for the end point (110) and a candidate access point, and an active pairwise transient key with the currently associated access point is used to secure the communication for new key derivation.
