摘要： A method of assembling a connector for automotive applications, comprising the steps of: providing a cable having at least one inner conductor; connecting an elongated inner signal contact of the connector to a stripped end of the at least one inner conductor; surrounding the elongated inner signal contact by an insulating element; placing a first shielding part of the connector around a first portion of the insulating element from a first radial direction; placing a second shielding part of the connector around a second portion of the insulating element from a second radial direction generally opposite to the first radial direction; and joining the first and second shielding parts to form a shielding contact of the connector surrounding the insulating element.

摘要： When molds (31a), (31b) are caused to mesh so that a crimping portion (5) is compressed, the crimping portion (5) is crimped to conductive wires (25) and a cover portion (27). A conductor crimping portion (7) is completely compressed by the molds (31a), (31b). A cover crimping portion (9) preliminarily compresses the cover portion (27). Next, temporarily compressed terminal-equipped electrical wires are disposed between different molds. When the molds are caused to mesh so that the crimping portion (5) is compressed, the cover crimping portion (9) is forcefully compressed. In other words, the cover crimping portion (9) is subjected to final compression. In other words, the present invention is provided with a first compression step for preliminarily compressing the cover portion (27) and a second compression step for forcefully compressing the covering part.

A splice cover or shield overlays the first cable, second cable, plurality of ferrules, and plurality of ring collars and electromagnetically seals the junction/bond between the core wires of the first cable and the second cable.
