Abstract: A temperature measurement device includes a heat transfer member including a temperature measuring portion having a flat shape and extending laterally and a heat transfer portion that extends continuously from the temperature measuring portion and transfers heat of the temperature measuring portion, a clamping member that generates a clamping force with the temperature measuring portion, a temperature sensor that is fixed while being in contact with the heat transfer portion, and a resin member that covers and holds the heat transfer portion and the temperature sensor.

Abstract: A synthetic jet actuator includes a cavity layer having an internal cavity for reception of a fluid volume and an orifice providing a fluid communication between the cavity and an external atmosphere; an oscillatory membrane having a piezoelectric material adapted to deflect the oscillatory membrane in response to an electrical signal; and a controller configured to control delivery of electrical signals to the piezoelectric material for controlling operation of the oscillatory membrane based on input data received from one or more sources that informs on a temperature and/or performance level of a targeted objected for cooling. The actuator may further include a thermal element for affecting modified temperature control; and the actuator may be integrated into a surface of a thermally diffusive structure for dissipating heat from a thermal load.

Abstract: A battery pack for a vehicle electrical system includes a casing for receiving one or more battery modules. The battery modules are insertable into a casing of the battery pack. Additionally, the battery modules may include cooling plate to cool the battery module and provide coolant to another battery module in response to a triggering event. Additionally, the battery modules may include a top cover with a frangible insulating material to further thermally insulate one battery module from another battery module and allow gasses and active material to escape the battery module in response to a triggering event. The battery pack may additionally be configured with vents for venting the gases and active material, such as those generated by a battery module in a thermal runaway event. Additionally, the battery modules may include a heat shield to direct vented gases and active material away from a cabin of a vehicle.

Abstract: In one aspect, an apparatus for storing energy comprises an enclosure including a coolant fluid inlet configured to couple to a coolant fluid system, a plurality of energy-storage cells housed in an arrangement within the enclosure, and a cell holder. The cell holder has retaining features configured to hold the plurality of cells in the arrangement, a first surface forming a cavity between the cell holder and an adjacent wall of the enclosure and a plurality of holes that pass from the cavity through the cell holder and to the region of the enclosure housing the plurality of energy-storage cells. The coolant fluid inlet is in fluid communication with the cavity. Each of the holes is positioned proximate to a cell. Coolant fluid passes through the coolant fluid inlet into the cavity and through the holes to the cells to reduce a temperature of each of the cells.

The bus bar carrier includes opposing first and second guide extensions, the stack of electrochemical cells is disposed between the opposing first and second guide extensions, and the opposing first and second guide extensions physically contact a first outer electrochemical cell and a second outer electrochemical cell, respectively, of the stack of electrochemical cells to guide the terminals of the stack of electrochemical cells toward corresponding ones of the bus bars disposed on the bus bar carrier.
