Abstract: A battery module includes a housing, a plurality of battery cells disposed in the housing, and a printed circuit board (PCB) assembly disposed in the housing. The PCB assembly includes a PCB and a shunt disposed across a first surface of the PCB. A second surface of the shunt directly contacts the first surface of the PCB, and the shunt is electrically coupled between the battery cells and a terminal of the battery module.

Abstract: A battery housing for a battery module is disclosed. The battery housing has a plurality of exterior walls surrounding a base forming an internal section which is configured to receive one or more battery cells. The internal section has a bottom surface. A heat sink is joined to the bottom surface of the battery housing by a plastic deformation of a portion of the housing. A cover encloses the internal section of the battery housing. A battery module and a method of installation of a heat sink in a battery housing are also disclosed.

Abstract: A method, system, node and device are disclosed. A collector device configured to communicate with a vehicle system, a health node and at least one sensor is described. The collector device includes a communication interface configured to receive at least one measurement from the at least one sensor; and transmit battery data using at least one of a first communication link and a second communication link. The collector device further includes processing circuitry configured to determine the battery data based at least in part on the received at least one measurement; and determine at least one of the first communication link and the second communication link for transmitting the battery data to the health node. The at least one of the first and second communication links is determined based at least in part on a usability of the second communication link to transmit the battery data.

Abstract: A battery system includes an electrochemical cell. The electrochemical cell includes a cover having an opening. The electrochemical cell also includes an aluminum terminal pad disposed proximate an outer surface of the cover. The pad opening includes a tapered surface such that the pad opening has a larger cross-sectional width proximate an upper surface of the aluminum terminal pad than proximate a lower surface of the aluminum terminal pad opposite the upper surface and facing the outer surface of the cover. The electrochemical cell also includes a rivet having a body portion extending through the opening in the cover, a head portion disposed in the pad opening of the aluminum terminal pad, and a shoulder extending between the body portion and the head portion. The head portion includes an inverted cone shape corresponding with the tapered surface of the pad opening.

Abstract: A battery system includes a housing configured to receive a battery cell, where the battery cell is configured to output thermal energy as a byproduct of electrical energy generation and/or consumption, a wall of the housing positioned proximate to the battery cell, and a plurality of fins extending from the wall, where the plurality of fins is configured to absorb thermal energy from the battery cell and dissipate the thermal energy to air, or a heat sink, or both, and where a fin of the plurality of fins comprises a channel configured to facilitate a flow of the air between the fin of the plurality of fins and an adjacent fin of the plurality of fins.
