摘要: According to one embodiment, a magnetic head includes first and second magnetic poles, and a stacked body provided between the first and second magnetic poles. The stacked body includes a first magnetic layer, a second magnetic layer provided between the first magnetic layer and the second magnetic pole, a first nonmagnetic layer provided between the first and second magnetic layers, a second nonmagnetic layer provided between the second magnetic layer and the second magnetic pole, and a third nonmagnetic layer provided between the first magnetic pole and the first magnetic layer. The first magnetic layer includes a first element including at least one of Fe, Co, or Ni. The second magnetic layer includes (Fe100-xCox)100-yEy. A second element E includes at least one selected from the group consisting of Cr, V, Mn, Yi, and Sc. The first magnetic layer does not include the second element.

摘要: The present embodiments relate to a PMR write head with a trailing shield that comprises a FeCoNiM composition. The FeCoNiM composition can be formed via an electroplating process by adding Fe2+, Co2+, Ni2+ and a transition metal salt to an aqueous solution comprised of other additives in an electroplating cell that has an Ni or Co as the anode. The plated HD magnetic material as the trailing shield in a PMR writer can minimize a wide area track erasure (WATE). Further, a high moment high damping shield can lower bit error rate (BER) and increase aerial density capability (ADC) of the write head.

摘要: The present embodiments relate to a perpendicular magnetic recording (PMR) write head with a Tunable Pole Protrusion or Tunable Pole Performance (TPP) side bridge design. A PMR write head can include a main pole including a tip portion configured to be disposed at an air-bearing surface (ABS) and configured to interact with a magnetic recording medium. The PMR write head can also include a hot seed (HS) portion and a first write shield. The PMR write head can also include a first metallic side bridge disposed between the tip portion of the main pole and the HS portion. The PMR write head can also include a bias circuit including at least a first bias electrical pad and a second electrical bias pad directing an electrical current flow along an electrical path between the tip portion of the main pole and the write shield portion via the first metallic side bridge.

The magnetic recording device comprises a main pole disposed between a trailing shield, a leading shield, and side shields. A trailing gap is disposed between the main pole and the trailing shield. A hot seed layer is disposed between the trailing gap and the trailing shield. A first insulation layer is disposed between the hot seed layer and the trailing shield, where the first insulation layer contacts the side shields. A second insulation layer is disposed between the main pole and leading shield, where the second insulation layer contacts the side shields. The first and second insulation layers direct the current through the side shields and across the main pole in a cross-track direction.

摘要: The present disclosure generally relates to a magnetic recording head comprising a spintronic device. The spintronic device is disposed between a main pole and a trailing shield of the magnetic recording head. The spintronic device comprises a multilayer spacer layer comprising a Cu layer in contact with a spin torque layer and a spin transparent texture layer disposed on the Cu layer, the spin transparent texture layer comprising AgSn or AgZn. A multilayer notch comprising a CoFe layer is disposed over the spin transparent texture layer of the multilayer spacer layer and a Heusler alloy layer is disposed on the CoFe layer, the Heusler alloy layer comprising CoMnGe, CoFeGe, or CoFeMnGe. The multilayer spacer layer and the multilayer notch result in the spintronic device having a high spin polarization and a reduced critical current.

A side shield surrounds the main pole and comprises a heavy metal first layer and a magnetic second layer. The first layer surrounds the first, second, and third surfaces of the main pole, or the second, third, and fourth surfaces of the main pole. The second layer surrounds the second and third surfaces of the main pole, and may further surround the fourth surface of the main pole.

The magnetic recording device comprises a lower leading shield, an upper leading shield disposed on the lower leading shield, a main pole disposed above the upper leading shield, a trailing shield disposed above the main pole and upper leading shield, and an upper return pole disposed above the trailing shield. A first non-magnetic layer is disposed between the lower leading shield and the upper leading shield, and a second non-magnetic layer is disposed between the trailing shield and the upper return pole. The lower leading shield has a different domain state than the upper leading shield, and the trailing shield and the upper leading shield have a same domain state. The materials and thickness of the first and second non-magnetic layers result in magnetostatic coupling or anti-ferromagnetic coupling.
