摘要: Described are systems and methods configured to accurately identify risk levels for individuals with varying sensitivities for those in close proximity to an emitting source and illustrates the impact of weather on levels of toxic concentration of airborne chemicals. As the methods and implementations described herein can be used for any location and any polluting point source of airborne chemicals, it can be a valuable tool to help residents in their efforts to reduce exposures and for medical providers to more accurately diagnose and treat exposed patients. For various distances from a polluting source, this methodology integrates weather, air dispersion analysis and emissions data of a single chemical or mixture of chemicals to provide a quantitative estimate of the frequency of unhealthy exposures to airborne toxins. Moreover, it specifies the frequency and past hours of unhealthy exposures according to the exposed person's sensitivity level.

摘要: A method and a system for converting tropical cyclone intensity at different time intervals are provided. The method includes the following steps: obtaining intensity data and path information of the tropical cyclone to be determined; determining an average time interval of the tropical cyclone to be determined under average wind speed based on the intensity data; using the path information to determine the type of tropical cyclone to be determined; if the tropical cyclone to be determined is a tropical cyclone over ocean, determining the current intensity index corresponding to the tropical cyclone over ocean at a specific time interval; obtaining the average maximum wind speed of the tropical cyclone over ocean at a specific time interval based on the current intensity index. It realizes the tropical cyclone intensity conversion at different time intervals, providing a basis for determining and predicting tropical cyclone intensity.

摘要: A weather prediction method includes generating radiance differences as a difference between measured radiances from satellites and forecast satellite radiances generated by a radiative transfer model and forecasted state profiles output by a numerical weather prediction (NWP) model. When the radiance differences exceed a noise threshold, the method includes generating updated state profiles by generating radiance-sensitivities using a Jacobian model and the forecasted state profiles; constructing a Kalman-gain matrix from background error covariance (BEC) matrices and the radiance-sensitivities; generating filtered state-profile changes from the Kalman-gain matrix and the radiance differences; updating the state profiles by adding the filtered state-profile changes to the forecasted state profiles to yield updated state profiles.

摘要: A method of calculating a return period wind speed for a proposed wind turbine site is provided. Wind speed measurements and modeled wind speeds associated with the proposed site are provided. The measured and modeled wind speeds are transformed into the frequency domain, and combined to generate a hybrid spectrum. The hybrid spectrum is transformed into the time domain to generate a set of hybrid wind speed measurements, which are used to calculate the return period wind speed.
