    Abstract: A planar joint for pivotally supporting an arm to a support structure includes an outer sleeve with a shaft extending through the outer sleeve and including an integrated washer extending radially outward from a central portion thereof. A pair of thrust bearings disposed against the integrated washer on respective opposite sides. A pair of bearing sleeves are adjacent to a respective one of the pair of thrust bearings. A pair of threaded washers are threadedly engaged within respective opposite ends of the outer sleeve. A pair of seals are received in a cavity in a respective one of the pair of threaded washers. A pair of retaining rings are received in an opening end of the cavity of a respective one of the pair of threaded washers for securing the seals within the respective threaded washers.

    Abstract: A clearance is created between an inner circumference of a bushing main body (2) which surrounds a rack (5) across a row of rack gear teeth (50) and an outer circumference of the rack (5), and two supporting surfaces (21A, 21B) which face each other with a bushing main body axis O therebetween and a supporting surface (21C) which faces a back surface of the rack (5), each extending along an x-axis direction, are formed on the inner circumference of the bushing main body (2). The rack (5) in a neutral state is supported by the two supporting surfaces (21A, 21B) so as to be displaceable along a z-axis direction, and the rack (5) in operation is stably supported by the three supporting surfaces (21A-21C) at three places. A groove bottom position of an annular elastic member attachment groove (24), which is formed on an outer circumference of the bushing main body (2), is offset toward the support surface (21B) only in an area on a support surface (21B) side from the bushing main body axis O, and therefore an elastic ring (3) attached to the elastic member attachment groove (24), protrudes above an outer circumferential surface of the bushing main body (2), but only in the area on the support surface (21B) side from the bushing main body axis O.

    Abstract: A turbo fluid machine includes a partition wall separating an inside of a housing into a compression space and a bearing space; and a foil bearing. The partition wall includes a support part having an end face raised toward a thrust collar in an axial direction. The support part has a groove formed in the end face and radially extending to an outer peripheral surface of the support part. Top foils of the foil bearing each have one surface facing the thrust collar and the other surface elastically supported by corresponding one of bump foils of the foil bearing. The foil bearing is mounted on the end face such that a position of the groove corresponds to a position of a gap between the bump foils and a position of a gap between the top foils and such that the groove faces the thrust collar in the axial direction.

    Abstract: A journal foil bearing system includes a journal member with a bore and an internal groove. The system includes a shaft received within the bore and supported for rotation relative to the journal member about an axis. The groove extends substantially along the axis. The system also includes at least one biasing foil and a top foil member with at least one arch-bound top foil. The top foil member has a top foil first end and a top foil second end. Additionally, the system includes a foil support insert member that is received within the groove. The foil support insert member includes a spacer member that is disposed between the top foil first and second ends. The spacer member maintains the top foil first and second ends separated, at least, at a distance.

    Abstract: A pillow block bearing seal for sealing the shaft opening around the shaft of a pillow block, having a stator assembly, a rotor, and a resilient cylinder sleeve. The stator assembly has a cylindrical base having an axial length that is configured to accept the shaft passing there through, and a stator extending annularly from an axial end of the cylindrical base. The rotor is configured to attach to and rotate with a rotatable shaft, and has an axially inward-facing surface that confronts the axially outward-facing surface of the stator to define labyrinth interface passage. The resilient cylindrical sleeve is fixed to an outer surface of the cylindrical base for contact with a pair of annular ribs of the bearing housing, for stabilizing the alignment of the center line of the shaft with the bearing housing.

    Abstract: A turbocharger includes a shaft extending between a first shaft end coupled to a turbine wheel, and a second shaft end coupled to a compressor wheel. The turbocharger also includes a bearing housing assembly including a bearing housing presenting an interior surface having a first diameter. The interior surface defines a bearing housing interior. A bushing is disposed in the bearing housing interior, extends between first and second bushing ends, is coupled to the shaft, and includes a first anti-rotation component. A retention shoulder extends away from the interior surface and radially inward proximate to one of the first and second bushing ends, and presents an inner surface having a second diameter less than the first diameter to limit axial movement of the bushing. The retention shoulder includes a second anti-rotation component engagable with the first anti-rotation component to limit rotational movement between the bushing and the bearing housing.
