    摘要: A synthetic ice panel system for use on a ground surface includes plurality of substantially flat panels that mutually interlock to form a rink, such as for ice skating. Each panel includes a top surface, a bottom surface adapted for resting on the ground surface, and a peripheral edge. The peripheral edge includes a plurality of interlocking tabs and recesses operative to mutually interlock with adjacent panels. Each panel is preferably made with a high-density polymer infused with a lubricant. As such, ice skates and the like are able to slide with relatively low friction on the top surface of the panel. Weather permitting; the panels may be inverted in some embodiments wherein the bottom surface of each panel includes a cooling channel containing a cooling tube through which a coolant flows to freeze water resting on the panel, thereby forming a layer of ice above the panel.

    摘要: A method for supporting cooling pipes and reinforcing bars in an ice rink is disclosed. The method provides rink chair support sections, each having a base structure with a first overlapping portion at one longitudinal end, a second overlapping portion at an opposite longitudinal end, and a middle portion intermediate the first and second overlapping portions. Each support section also has a support arrangement to support the pipes and bars, which is attached to the first overlapping and middle portions so as to stand upwardly therefrom. Further, the first overlapping portion has a hole that is arranged to receive a protruding element coupled to the second overlapping portion for longitudinally coupling support sections end-to-end. The method also involves arranging the support sections into a plurality of rows and coupling the support sections within each row so that each rink chair support of a support arrangement supports a different pipe.

Additionally, a system for creating and maintaining a frozen surface on a medium includes a mechanism for exchanging thermal energy between a medium and a coolant, the mechanism for exchanging thermal energy between a medium and a coolant having a substantially uniform cross-sectional area for passing a coolant therethrough. The system also includes a mechanism for removing thermal energy from a coolant. The system further includes a mechanism for transporting a coolant between the mechanism for exchanging thermal energy between a medium and a coolant and the mechanism for removing thermal energy from a coolant.     摘要: A process for placing a color graphic image in an ice structure requires a substrate of material which is suitable for use in a four-color (CMYK) printing method, which generally retains its shape upon exposure to water or aqueous solution, and which is air permeable. A decal is produced by printing the image on the substrate using the four-color printing method. The decal is placed onto a surface of the ice structure and coated with water which, once frozen, embeds the decal and image thereon within the ice structure. The substrate should become transparent or dissolve after being embedded in the ice structure. The process is suitable for ice hockey rinks, curling rinks, decorative ice sculptures, and the like.

    摘要: The invention provides a portable ice skating rink including elongate curb structural members and a liner of flat flexible sheet material. The liner is economically made of sheet plastic for example with a bottom sheet and elongate sleeves around the periphery of the bottom sheet. The curb members, such as 4.times.4 lumber pieces, are inserted into an open end of each sleeve to form a water retaining structure. The sheet material and seams have resistance to water permiation sufficient to retain a shallow pool of water covering the bottom sheet during freezing in outdoor conditions to form an ice skating surface. Assembly of the rink is minimal. The user need only lay the liner in the intended location and slide the curb members into the preformed sleeves about the periphery. The interior depression formed is filled with water and allowed to freeze in outdoor conditions.
