    摘要: A polymeric linear substrate is provided with one or more active agents infused into the linear material to a depth less than the 100 micrometers, optionally where the polymeric linear substrate has a cross sectional dimension that does not exceed 2 centimeters. The polymeric material may include a polyamide, a polyester, polyvinylchloride, or polycarbonate. Also provided are systems for infusing a linear substrate with one or more active agents that includes a dye supply providing a dye; a process tank connected to the dye supply and providing a reservoir of a liquid infusion solution including the dye through the linear substrate infusion system; and a process chamber fluidly connected to the process tank for contacting the liquid infusion solution with a linear substrate effective to infuse the dye into a surface of the linear substrate.

    摘要: A method for inhibiting the spread of nosocomial infections in institutional health care settings comprises treating outer garments, worn indoors by employed staff of the institution, to impart antimicrobial properties to those garments by immersing the garments in a solution of glyxol, eugenol and water, squeezing the solution out of the garments, curing the wetted garments under heat, and drying the cured garments; and thereafter requiring employed staff to wear the treated garments while working at the institution; laundering the garments after being worn by the staff, for further wear by the staff, and requiring employed staff to wear the treated garments after the garments have been laundered for so long as the garments retain their antimicrobial properties.

    摘要: The present invention is directed towards a method and apparatus for treating materials consisting of a plurality of monofiliments with a treating agent. The treating agent is suspended in streams which are directed to the material from various directions and under a controllable pressure so as to separate the monofiliments and thereby expose the individual monofiliments to the treating agent. The streams of treating agent are directed to the material with application of the Venturi principle. The streams of treating agent may be applied in a reciprocating manner.

    摘要: A jigger dyeing apparatus comprising a liquid-draining device which is arranged in a travel passage of a spread textile fabric to be dyed between winding rolls and dyeing rolls so that a dyeing solution is squeezed out on the entire surface of the fabric uniformly with respect to the weft direction of the fabric, and a dyeing solution circulating system and a dyeing box, which are arranged so that while the fabric is being dipped in the dyeing solution, the dye concentration in the dyeing solution falling in contact with the fabric is always kept uniform in respective portions of the fabric. The problem of listing involved in conventional jigger dyeing apparatus can be completely solved by using the present jigger dyeing apparatus.

    摘要: Fabrics of which the warp is sized with water-soluble polymers of acrylic acid and/or their alkali metal salts or ammonium salts, are desized by treating the sized fabric with from 30 to 300 percent by weight of water, based on the dry weight of the fabric, and separating the resulting size solution from the fabric. The recovered size solution can be directly re-used for sizing.
