    Abstract: The invention relates to a method for testing a mutual combability of coating material and propellant and preparing a water based aerosol paint composition having a high concentration of coating material said method comprising: selecting at least one pair of polymeric resin and propellant, further selecting said selected propellant-polymeric resin-pair so that the propellant and the polymeric resin will pass the mutual combability test in a pressurized vessel in the presence of water-based solvent, providing into an aerosol can A) 50-85% w/w of coating material, and B) selected propellant 15-50% w/w; and sealing the can after or before adding ingredients in method stages A and B.

    Abstract: This disclosure relates to polyurethane-based coating materials and coatings and coated products made therewith. In one aspect of the disclosure, an aqueous coating composition includes water, and, dispersed in the water, a functionalized anionic polyurethane present in an amount in the range of 20-80 wt % of the composition on a dry solids basis; a water-insoluble transition metal crosslinking agent present in an amount in the range of 0.5-30 wt % of the composition on a dry solids basis; and a pseudoplastic thickener in an amount in the range of 0.02 wt % to 4 wt % on a dry solids basis; and at least one colorant (e.g., a near-infrared reflective pigment) present in an amount in the range of 0.2 wt % to 40 wt % on a dry solids basis.

    Abstract: Methods for forming top coats include spray-applying a waterborne top coat composition on the substrate to form a top coat layer, wherein the waterborne top coat composition comprises water, pigment(s) and resin solids, the resin solids comprising about 60 to 100 wt. % of binder solids and 0 to about 40 wt. % of crosslinker solids, the binder solids comprising about 1 to about 40 wt. % of a urethanized polyester/(meth)acryl copolymer hybrid binder having a hydroxyl number of about 30 to about 200 mg KOH/g and a carboxyl number of about 8 to about 50 mg KOH/g, and about 60 to about 99 wt. % of one or more additional binders, the sum of the respective wt. % in each case equaling 100 wt. %; and curing the top coat layer to form a cured top coat.
