Abstract: In general, the present invention is directed to a method of cooking wood in a cooking liquor medium. The method comprises a step of providing wood to a treatment vessel and contacting the wood with a digester additive composition. The composition comprises a first surfactant comprising an anionic surfactant, a derivative thereof, a salt thereof, or any combination thereof and a second surfactant comprising a polyoxyalkylene glycol or a derivative thereof. Additionally, according to another embodiment, the present invention is directed to a digester additive composition comprising a first surfactant comprising an anionic surfactant, a derivative thereof, a salt thereof, or any combination thereof and a second surfactant comprising a polyoxyalkylene glycol or a derivative thereof.

Abstract: An extrusion composition containing at least one resin selected from the group consisting of polypropylene homopolymers, polypropylene random copolymers, and polypropylene impact copolymers. The extrusion composition also contains at least one phosphate ester-based nucleating agent provided in the composition at a use level of between about 0.01 and 0.15 parts by weight, in relation to 100 parts by weight of the resin and at least one co-additive selected from the group consisting of poly(ethylene glycol) and copolymers containing segments of ethylene oxide, wherein the co-additive has a number average molecular weight of about 300 or more, and wherein the use level of the co-additive is about 0.005 parts by weight or more, in relation to 100 parts by weight of the resin.

The room temperature curable sealant/adhesive composition comprises: A) one or more organopolysiloxanes; B) a hydrophilic material; C) a cross-linker; D) a titanate catalyst and/or a zirconate catalyst; and E) one or more optional ingredients. A silicone elastomer formed therefrom and related methods are also disclosed. In general, such compositions (upon several hours of contact with water) do not repel water, but rather retain and pick-up water and/or can be wetted by aqueous materials subsequent to exposure.

Abstract: A composition comprising lignin compounds possessing 8-30 (or 5-15 or 8-12) phenyl rings interconnected by ether and alkylene linkages and containing hydroxy and/or methoxy groups attached to said phenyl rings, wherein said composition possesses a glass transition temperature of 80-100° C. (or 95-98° C.) and a degree of substitution (DS) of carboxylic acid groups per phenyl ring of at least 0.5 and a DS of methoxy groups per phenyl ring of no more than 1.2, 1.1, or 1.0, wherein at least 90 wt % of said lignin compounds has a molecular weight within a range of 500-5000 g/mol, 1500-3000 g/mol, or 2000-2500 g/mol and/or wherein the molecular weight distribution of the lignin compounds is characterized by a polydispersity index of 1.0-1.5, 1.0-1.4, or 1.0-1.3, and wherein other lignin compounds not possessing the above characteristics are not present. Methods for producing the lignin extract and lignin copolymers and blends produced therefrom are also described.

Abstract: A polymer electrolyte composition is excellent in practicality which has such an excellent chemical stability as to be able to withstand a strong oxidizing atmosphere during operation of a fuel cell and is capable of achieving excellent proton conductivity under a low-humidified condition and excellent mechanical strength and physical durability as well as a polymer electrolyte membrane, a membrane electrode assembly, and a polymer electrolyte fuel cell which use the polymer electrolyte composition. The polymer electrolyte membrane is a polymer electrolyte membrane that contains at least an ionic group-containing polymer electrolyte and a polyazole, which is a polymer electrolyte membrane in which a phase separation of 2 nm or larger in which the polyazole is a main component is not observed in transmission type electron microscopic observation.
