    Abstract: A recording device includes a recording section, a discharge section 38 that discharges the medium, a pivot shaft 39 that pivots the discharge section 38, a contact member 48 that configure to swing around the pivot shaft 39 and to contact the medium to be discharged, and a detection section 45 that detects a displacement of the contact member 48, wherein the contact member 48 is provided with a swing restriction section 58 that restricts a range of swinging by engaging the protrusion 57 on the pivot shaft 39, a position of the protrusion 57 that engages with the swing restriction section 58 changes according to pivot the pivot shaft 39, and a position at which the contact member 48 is swingable changes between when the discharge section 38 is positioned at a nip position P1 and when the discharge section 38 is positioned at a non-nip position P2.

    Abstract: A dump gate system having a pair of belts configured for rotation in opposite directions and spaced apart to define a gap between the belts. Fins extend outward from the belts. The fins may support an item in the gap when the belts are in a loading position. Each belt may have a tapered section extending from the top of the belt to a lower section of the belt. Each belt may taper toward the other belt in the tapered section to gradually reduce the width of a gap between the belts from the top of each belt to the lower section. The lower sections of the belts may be generally parallel to each other. A drive system may be configured to rotate the belts to move the fins from an initial loading position to a final loading position while items are fed into the gap for support by the fins.

    Abstract: Method of manipulating a sheet of fiber reinforced material built up with parallel longitudinally oriented fibers embedded in a thermoplastic matrix material, wherein at least one face of the sheet is engaged by a friction element that extends substantially transversely to the orientation of the fibers, and that exerts friction onto the face in a direction substantially along the orientation of the fibers. And a device for moving sheets of fiber reinforced material having parallel longitudinally oriented fibers embedded in a thermoplastic matrix material, in particular sheets presenting anisotropic stiffness is disclosed. The device comprises a conveying path for conveying sheets of fiber reinforced material in a direction substantially along the orientation of the fibers, and a drive element arranged substantially transversely to the conveying path to in use engage a face of a sheet of fiber reinforced material to be conveyed along the path, and arranged to exert friction onto the face in a direction substantially along the orientation of the fibers. The device may further include a guide element arranged substantially transversely to the conveying path to in use engage the opposite face of the sheet of fiber reinforced material to be conveyed along the path, the drive element and the guide element being arranged to envelope the conveying path.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a stacking device (10) for placing sheet-shaped elements (P) in stacks in a forming machine (1), said stacking device (10) comprising:



    a movable stacking surface (11), and
    an actuating device (12) for moving stacking surface (11):

    between a retracted position and a vertical forward position in a reciprocating back-and-forth motion for stacking sheets, and
    between the retracted position and a stowed position to open an access to the stack of sheet-shaped elements (P),


    characterized in that the actuator (12) comprises cam means configured to move the stacking surface (11) upwardly in the retracted position, in a raised position to be located above the top of the sheet stack.
