摘要: Provided herein are systems and methods for additive manufacture of a customized ocular contact lens for a subject in a fast and convenient manner. In various aspects disclosed herein, methods disclosed herein provide for the imaging of the outer surface of a subject's cornea, designing a customized ocular contact lens based on the data from the imaging of the cornea, including determining anterior and posterior surfaces of the ocular contact lens, manufacturing the ocular contact lens using additive manufacturing, verifying the fit of the customized ocular contact lens on the subject's cornea, and verifying the optical power of the customized ocular contact lens. These features allow for the fast and convenient production of an ocular contact lens customized to a subject's cornea and manufactured to a specified optical power.

摘要: A tibial trial implant for use in a knee joint replacement operation includes an articulation component with an articulation surface for articulation with a femoral component, at least one support component having a bearing surface configured for bearing on a tibial plateau, a top side forming a ramp inclined relative to the bearing surface, and a guide device having a guide track parallel to the ramp. A bottom side of the articulation component has a support surface inclined parallel to the ramp. The articulation component is held on the guide device and supported with its support surface on the ramp in a manner linearly movable along the guide track relative to the support component. Relative movement between the articulation component and support component changes a proximodistal distance between the articulation surface of the articulation component and bearing surface of the support component.

An associated method includes (i) an additive manufacturing process, in which different materials, including the first and second material (21, 22), are applied in layers and are joined to form a single-piece weighing system blank (10), wherein the weighing system blank (10) has prospective lever regions (12) and prospective thin-section joint regions (11), and (ii) subsequent subtractive finishing of the weighing system blank at least on the prospective thin-section joint regions to obtain the weighing system.

To improve the characteristics or permit hitherto impossible connections between thermoplastic and thermoset components, a multi-material joining method is disclosed in which a thermoplastic connecting region is formed on the thermoplastic component. The connecting region is connected to the thermoset component by interdiffusion. For this purpose, the uncured second component is brought into contact with the connecting region and heat is supplied. An interdiffusion layer is formed which fixedly connects the second component and the connecting region to one another and thus joins the first component to the second component.

摘要: A method and apparatus for the additive manufacturing of three-dimensional objects are disclosed. Two or more materials are extruded simultaneously as a composite, with at least one material in liquid form and at least one material in a solid continuous strand completely encased within the liquid material. A means of curing the liquid material after extrusion hardens the composite. A part is constructed using a series of extruded composite paths. The strand material within the composite contains specific chemical, mechanical, or electrical characteristics that instill the object with enhanced capabilities not possible with only one material.

摘要: The present disclosure relates to a system for performing an Additive Manufacturing (AM) fabrication process on a powdered material, deposited as a powder bed and forming a substrate. The system makes use of a laser for generating a laser beam, and an optical subsystem. The optical subsystem is configured to receive the laser beam and to generate an optical signal comprised of electromagnetic radiation sufficient to melt or sinter the powdered material. The optical subsystem uses a digitally controlled mask configured to pattern the optical signal as needed to melt select portions of a layer of the powdered material to form a layer of a 3D part. A power supply and at least one processor are also included for generating a plurality of different power density levels selectable based on a specific material composition, absorptivity and diameter of the powder particles, and a known thickness of the powder bed. The powdered material is used to form the 3D part in a sequential layer-by-layer process.
