    摘要: A sheet forming tool (1) for the manufacture of a corrugated sheet has a lower tool element (40) and an upper tool element (50), each of the upper tool element and the lower tool element having a front side (23, 33, 41) and a rear side (25, 35, 42). The lower tool element (40) comprises a first base element (2, 4, 6, 8) and a first finger element (3, 5, 7, 9) projecting from said first base element (2, 4, 6, 8). The first finger element (3, 5, 7, 9) forms a first ridge (22, 24, 26, 28) for forming a corrugation peak in the sheet. The upper tool element (50) comprises a second base element (12, 14) and a second finger element (13, 15) projecting from said second base element (12, 14), the second finger element (13, 15) forming a second ridge (32, 34) for forming a corrugation trough in said sheet. The first ridge (22, 24, 26, 28) is arranged opposite to the second ridge (32, 34) and the first ridge (22, 24, 26, 28) is offset from the second ridge (32, 34) so as to allow for an engagement of the first finger element (3, 5, 7, 9) and the second finger element (13, 15) in an engaged position. Each of the first ridge (22, 24, 26, 28) and second ridge (32, 34) comprises a main portion (20) and an end portion (11, 21) and the angle ? (36) between each of the first ridge (22, 24, 26, 28) and second ridge (32, 34) in the main portion (20) and the corresponding front side (23, 33, 41) is at least partly different from the angle between each of the first ridge (22, 24, 26, 28) and second ridge (32, 34) in the end portion (11, 21) and the corresponding front side and a space is provided between the first finger element (3, 5, 7, 9) and the neighboring second finger element (13, 15) in the engaged position.

    摘要: A variable load ballast system for the double facer of a corrugator includes a number of rows of holddown belt engaging ballast members positioned in side-by-side relation transversely across the belt, with the rows extending over the full heating section of the double facer. Each of the rows is divided into a number of longitudinal segments, each of which segments is controlled by a vertical actuator to move the segment between a lower full load ballast position on the belt and an upper no load position off the belt. The rows may comprise a series of ballast rollers or a continuous flexible membrane and either embodiment provides the ability to vary the ballast load on the holddown belt longitudinally, laterally and in any pattern of symmetry or asymmetry to accommodate a wide range of operating conditions and problems typically arising in the operation of a double facer.

    摘要: The invention is a method of fluting corrugating medium which can be formed in conventional or unconventional flute configurations. The method employs at least one additional corrugating roll in addition to the usual two. The first pair of rolls create initial flutes in the medium. Initially fluted medium is then transferred to a third roll of lesser flute pitch than the first rolls. In this manner the initially created flutes can be reformed into configurations not possible using conventional systems. A fourth roll can be used to achieve additional flute pitch reduction. Using this method flutes with very sharply angled tips can be formed. Other embodiments enable formation of less conventional cross sectional configurations such as flutes with asymmetric patterns.

    摘要: A machine (300) and the process for manufacture of a unique completely pleated product (110) which is made from a continuous, flexible web (311) for the covering of windows and the like. The machinery consists of a production line (300) with at least a screen printing assembly (306), printing phase control apparatus (330), a unique pleating assembly (400) and a folding assembly (500) for stacking and receiving the final product, screen printing and web travel phasing is performed in accordance with standard practices in the industry, while the pleating and folding of the finished product is performed by apparatus designed and constructed by the instant inventors. After predetermined patterns of adhesive or bonding material (212) have been applied to the continuous web (311), it is pleated by a paired roller assembly (400) and, through the use of an air knife assembly (500), folded into a collecting apparatus. The finished product (110) is a completely pleated structure consisting of front and rear pleated faces containing, interstitially, a multi-cellular structure. The finished product realizes a flexible, shading structure which can be compactly collapsed, revealing essentially none of the pleated surfaces. The finished product derives its uniqueness primarily from the fact that it is pleated from a single continuous web and that retroflexing of the web comprises complete folds in, or pleating of, the web.
