摘要: A machine moves shoe strobels to a camera or scanner where images of the strobels are captured. Using the images, a computing device instructs a printer how to mark guidelines within a threshold distance of each other on the strobels that signify strobel sewing lines for different shoes models and shoe sizes. Cross-sectional lines may also be printed on the strobels to aid in error-checking guideline marking. Unmarked strobels are stacked in a loading compartment, sometimes in pairs—e.g., right and left shoe strobels. The unmarked strobels are transferred to a conveyor that brings the strobels to the camera or scanner and the printer. After guidelines and/or cross-sectional lines are added to the strobels, the marked strobels are stacked in a compartments housing other marked strobels.

摘要: One embodiment of the present invention relates to a footwear characteristic measuring system designed to determine measurements of a particular footwear wedge insert which may be used to encourage correct knee alignment in an article of footwear. The system includes a base, a stepped member, a platform, and an illumination system. The stepped member or piano hinge is positioned on the top surface of the base adjacent to or partially under the platform. The platform is disposed above the top surface of the base and connected on a first side to the base via a hinge. A second portion of the platform is positioned on top of a portion of the stepped member so as to form a particular angle with respect to the base depending on the height of the particular stepped member surface. The illumination system is oriented to transmit an illumination output upward or perpendicular to the top surface of the base.

摘要: A method and apparatus for providing a topographical map of the bottom of a patient's rear foot with the foot in a semi-weight bearing condition and in the neutral position. A flexible membrane defines the top of an air cushion that captures the patient's foot in the neutral position when the air pillow is inflated. The membrane also conforms to the bottom of the foot. A three-dimensional scanner located below the membrane measures the distances to the bottom of the membrane over an array of positions. A manufacturing facility converts these measurements into information by which computer numerical controlled equipment machines an orthotic insert for the patient's footwear.

摘要: A calcaneal bisector for indicating a calcaneal bisection line of a heel firstly includes a frame and a first plate mounted relative to the frame. One side of the heel can be aligned to the first plate when the bisector is in use. The bisector also includes a second plate movably mounted to the frame, and the second plate is slidable relative to the first plate for aligning to the other side of the heel. The bisector further includes an indicator movably mounted relative to the frame for indicating the calcaneal bisection line and a transmission mechanism disposed between the plates and the indicator for correlating movements of the indicator and the relative movements of the plates so as to ascertain the calcaneal bisection line.

摘要: An object of footwear for children which allows adults to visually determine whether the shoe proper fits the child and can be adjusted in its effective size when it is determined that the shoe has become too small. The article of footwear comprises a fitting system comprising: (1) a substantially transparent window disposed in a predetermined location in the vamp so that when a wearer who has a foot that properly fits in the article of footwear puts on the article of footwear, a portion of a toe of the wearer can be seen through the window, and (2) a sizing member attached to the upper, the sizing member being placed within the opening against the heel portion to create a first effective size of the article of footwear, the sizing member being removable to create a second effective size of the article of footwear. The present invention also provides a method of determining when to adjust the effective size of an article of footwear and adjusting the effective size of the article of footwear.

摘要: A method and apparatus are described for determining the amount of canting necessary to correct the ski boot-ski interface to compensate for inherent misalignment between a skier's lower leg and the bottom of the sole of his or her boots. The skier's foot is secured in the boot, and the boot is secured on a platform freely rotatable about a longitudinal centerline axis. A rod also freely rotatable about the same axis is centered with respect to the knee by a knee clamp attached to the rod. A pointer affixed to the rod is used to accurately determine the angle between the rod and platform on a scale extending from the boot platform. This angle is then used to guide the placement of shims or the employment of other means to effect the desired orientation of the knee, and consequently the lower leg, relative to the ski, for optimum control.
