Abstract: A method of improving viability, persistence, and/or vigor of a host plant in the form of Lolium multiflorum Lolium x hybridum and Lolium perenne (host grass) includes artificially inoculating the host grass with an LpTG-1 endophyte RGT15 strain. The LpTG-1 endophyte RGT15 strain can produce at least one alkaloid or combination of alkaloids that provide the host grass with a favorable alkaloid profile and/or protect the plant from biotic stresses.

A fungal insecticide prepared by adopting the strain can be well applied to pest green prevention and control in all weather.

Abstract: Nodulisporic acids (NAs) comprise a group of indole diterpenes known for their potent insecticidal activities; however, biosynthesis of NAs by its natural producer, Hypoxylon pulicicidum (Nodulisporium sp.) is exceptionally difficult to achieve. The identification of genes responsible for NA production could enable biosynthetic pathway optimization to provide access to NAs for commercial applications. Obtaining useful quantities of NAs using published fermentations methods is challenging, making gene knockout studies an undesirable method to confirm gene function. Alternatively, heterologous gene expression of H. pulicicidum genes in a more robust host species like Penicillium paxilli provides a way to rapidly identify the function of genes that play a role in NA biosynthesis. In this work, we identified the function of four secondary-metabolic genes necessary for the biosynthesis of nodulisporic acid F (NAF) and reconstituted these genes in the genome of P. paxilli to enable heterologous production of NAF in this fungus.

Abstract: Multiple-function biological compositions for the biological control of phytopathogens, phytonematodes and agricultural pests are provided for use as an inoculant, for phosphorus solubilization, for soil conditioning, for use as a biostimulant, for hydric stress reduction in cultivated plants and for bioremediation in agricultural or non-agricultural areas. The compositions contain mixtures of additives and excipients having at least two genera and/or species of Actinomycetes or other bacterial species, so as to provide nematicidal effects, fungicidal effects. insecticidal action in the reduction of damage and control of insects, and other properties such as growth-promotion and soil conditioning. The compositions may also be used, for use as a biostimulant, for hydric stress mitigation in cultivated plants, and for bioremediation in agricultural or non-agricultural areas.

Abstract: A method of increasing organic carbon in a soil is disclosed. The method includes inoculating the soil and/or a plant growing in the soil with one or more fungal strains from at least one genus selected from the group consisting of Acrocalymma, Clonostachys, Leptodontidium, Periconia, Phaeosphaeria, Thozetella, Trichoderma, and a combination thereof, wherein the one or more fungal strains are in an amount effective to increase organic carbon in the soil compared to a non-inoculated control soil. Also disclosed is a method of enhancing plant growth, comprising: applying to a plant, a plant part, or the locus surrounding the plant with one or more fungal strains from at least one genus selected from the group consisting of Acrocalymma, Clonostachys, Leptodontidium, Periconia, Phaeosphaeria, Thozetella, Trichoderma, and a combination thereof in an amount effective to enhance the growth of the plant as compared to an untreated control plant.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides use of sativene, and a recombinant biocontrol fungus and a muscardine cadaver and use thereof, belonging to the technical field of genetic engineering. The present disclosure provides use of sativene in insect attraction and/or pest control. The sativene are attractive to insects. A higher concentration of the sativene has a stronger attraction on mosquito and Drosophila larvae; the Drosophila larvae respond to the sativene even at a level as low as 10−11 g. The sativene also be attractive to Galleria mellonella larvae. The present disclosure further provides a recombinant biocontrol fungus, including a recombinant fungal expression plasmid, where the recombinant fungal expression plasmid is inserted with a pine longifolene synthesis gene. In the present disclosure, the recombinant biocontrol fungus has increased synthetic amounts and volatilized amounts of the longifolene and sativene, resulting in an enhanced attraction to insects.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides use of a Chaetomium globosum strain in controlling Fusarium crown rot (FCR) of wheat. The C. globosum strain under the deposit designation of 12XP1-2-3 is deposited at China General Microbiological Culture Collection Center (CGMCC) on Jan. 23, 2019 with an accession number of CGMCC No. 17183. Field experiments conclude that coating of wheat seeds with Chaetomium globosum strain 12XP1-2-3 can reduce diseased stem rate, disease rating, and disease index by 19.0%-41.3%, 43.7%, and 4.7%-45.4%, respectively.
