    摘要： A telecommunication network has a plurality of tandem node switches interconnected by trunks. Each switch generates message detail records (MDR) which are transmitted by data links to a network control center. In response to complaints, an NCC operator can start a mechanized search of MDR to retrace the path a call had earlier taken. The retraced path may be graphically illustrated on a display network map. Data from each call trace may be stored in a call trace log for subsequent retrieval.

    摘要： Method and apparatus are disclosed for recording information on the accumulated usage of a group of trunks interconnecting two networks. The apparatus includes two usage records that are alternately designated primary and secondary usage records during successive ones of consecutive time periods. In response to a call on a trunk, the primary usage record is decremented by an amount representing the time interval between the start of a given period and the commencement of trunk use. During the period, each trunk connected to a network office is examined for use once during the period. When a selected trunk is found in use, the secondary usage record is incremented by an amount representing the interval of time in the previously occurring time period. When the secondary usage record has not been updated for the selected trunk, the secondary usage record is decremented by an amount representing the previous interval of time to adjust the secondary usage record for calls occurring prior to the trunk being checked for use. When a call is terminated on a trunk, the primary usage record is incremented by an amount representing the interval time between the start of the period and the termination of the call. In addition, the secondary usage record is incremented by an amount representing the interval of time in the previous time period when the trunk has not been checked for use. At the end of each period, the primary and secondary designations of the two records are exchanged for use during the next time period.

    摘要： A charging process for selling information via a telephone network. A data bank can be connected via said network with calling subscribers. This data bank has a telephone number and a device for supplying a spoken message. The data bank supplies its message to any calling subscriber as of the time at which a call from said subscriber is received, and the duration of the message supplied by the data bank is fixed. A number is allocated which, for the telephone network, is considered to correspond to a time-based charge based on a certain charge band, this number also implying a routing of the call via time-based charging means. The fixed duration of the message and the charge band are chosen in such a way that the total of the charge charged to the calling subscriber for receiving the complete message contains an extra charge of at least one unit compared with the charge which would have been made to him for a call of the same duration with a subscriber belonging to the same local distribution area as the data bank. The number of calls to which the data bank has replied are counted and the number of extra charges charged is deducted therefrom.

    摘要： A line activity monitor for a plurality of telephone lines operates to record a log for each call indicative of the time at which the telephone line entered each of a plurality of states during the call. In this way, complete information regarding line usage is recorded for each call, and the use of averages or summary statistics is avoided. Detailed analysis can then be applied to the information contained in the logs, tailored to the individual application. The disclosed line activity monitor also acts to record a coded signal with each log. This coded signal is generated by an operator following the answering of an incoming call, and can be used to indicate the purpose of the call to further enhance the line usage statistics developed from the information in the logs. The disclosed line activity monitor also distinguishes between the presence and absence of voice during the time the line is in an off-hook condition in order to enable the effective tabulation of nonproductive periods, whether or not the A and A1 control leads are used to place the line on hold.

The earth terminals are connected to user access devices to receive and transmit voice, video and data and are operable to generate bursts to transmit user data via a satellite, and to process data received from the satellite and transmit it to the addressed user access devices. The terminals each comprise a programmable computing device which organizes bursts in at least one of a plurality of slots constituting a time division multiple access frame in accordance with a burst plan. The personal computer intercepts all call signaling from the business communication system. The principal's personal computer not only interacts closely with the business communication system, but can also be interconnected in a local area network with other personal computers or terminal devices such that a user at one of the other devices or personal computers can create a call record for the principal's personal computer.
