摘要： A programmed conversation recording system presents a caller with a sequence of messages and records caller responses to these messages during respective calling periods. According to this invention, pauses in the caller response are automatically detected and timed and a patience interval is provided which varies in real time during the recording period as a function of the duration of the caller response. The recording period is automatically terminated when the duration of a pause in the caller response exceeds the patience interval. By varying the patience interval in real time during the recording period, the recording system can be programmed to respond properly, even to responses to complex questions.

摘要： A line activity monitor for a plurality of telephone lines operates to record a log for each call indicative of the time at which the telephone line entered each of a plurality of states during the call. In this way, complete information regarding line usage is recorded for each call, and the use of averages or summary statistics is avoided. Detailed analysis can then be applied to the information contained in the logs, tailored to the individual application. The disclosed line activity monitor also acts to record a coded signal with each log. This coded signal is generated by an operator following the answering of an incoming call, and can be used to indicate the purpose of the call to further enhance the line usage statistics developed from the information in the logs. The disclosed line activity monitor also distinguishes between the presence and absence of voice during the time the line is in an off-hook condition in order to enable the effective tabulation of nonproductive periods, whether or not the A and A1 control leads are used to place the line on hold.

These elements allow for automatic dialing of local and long distance calls in the United States, as well as automatic dialing of international calls. These files may be searched by the computer system during and after the caller dials a number. If the dialed number matches one of the numbers in the files, the system may automatically out-dial the dialed number.

摘要： A rotary turbine including a source of a pressurized medium and a rotor assembly. In one embodiment, the rotor assembly includes first and second rotors, and the surface of each rotor is substantially smooth. The pressurized medium flows between the rotors, turning the rotors. The smooth rotor surfaces do not cause substantial turbulence in the medium. Accordingly, the exit velocity of the pressurized medium is maintained at a substantial higher level than if the rotors included blades or other protrusions extending outwardly.

A higher amplitude segment is classified in a first category when the first and second measured durations corresponding to the higher amplitude segment and an adjacent lower amplitude segment satisfy a classification test, and a counter counts the number of the higher amplitude segments classified in the first category. To detect spoken itemized words such as numbers or letters, the classification test can include the requirement that the lower amplitude segment be relatively short as compared to the preceding higher amplitude segment.
