    摘要: An electron emitter that consists of: a low work function material including Lanthanum hexaboride or Iridium Cerium that acts as an emitter, a cylinder base made of high work function material that has a cone shape where the low work function material is embedded in the high work function material but is exposed at end of the cone and the combined structure is heated and biased to a negative voltage relative to an anode, an anode electrode that has positive bias relative to the emitter, and a wehnelt electrode with an aperture where the cylindrical base protrudes through the wehnelt aperture so the end of the cone containing the emissive area is placed between the wehnelt and the anode.

    摘要: In a field emission backlight unit, a method of driving the same, and a method of manufacturing a lower substrate, the field emission backlight unit includes: a lower substrate; first and second electrodes alternately formed in parallel lines on the lower substrate; emitters interposed between the lower substrate and the first electrodes; an upper substrate spaced a predetermined distance from the lower substrate and facing the lower substrate; a third electrode formed on a bottom surface of the upper substrate; and a phosphor layer formed on the third electrode. The driving method comprises applying a cathode voltage to the first electrodes and a gate voltage to the second electrodes, followed by reversing the application of the voltages to the first and second electrodes. The manufacturing method comprises forming and drying or firing a patterned carbon nanotube (CNT) layer, and then pattering, drying and firing a conductive thick film.

    摘要: An apparatus provides wireless communication between multiple devices within a process control system, such as between field devices, control units, user terminals, controllers, etc., using a wireless bus protocol. In one embodiment, a process control system for use within a process control environment includes a plurality of process control field devices that operate within the process environment, and a control device adapted to receive a sense signal from or to provide a control signal to one or more of the plurality of process control field devices. First and second wireless transceivers are communicatively connected to different ones of the process control field devices and the control device and communicate with one another using a bus protocol, to thereby provide wireless communications within the process control system.

Cathode (2) is situated at a level above and laterally displaced from anode (1), providing an opening for a window above anode (1). Cathode (2) has an emitting edge (4) which is operable to emit field electrons when a positive voltage is applied to anode (1) with respect to cathode (2). A phosphor layer is disposed above anode (1) and below the level of cathode (2) and is operable to luminesce when struck with the electrons emitted from the emitting edge (4).

    摘要: This disclosure is directed toward field emission surfaces, and is more particularly directed toward improvements in cold, low field, high current, low noise field emission devices and surfaces. Such devices are used in field emission display devices such as video displays and information displays. The device utilizes a cermet with graded concentration of insulative and conductive particles deposited on the truncated point of a conical emitter. The emission surface of the cermet is insensitive to gases that oxidize or poison the emission surface. Such gases and other contaminants emanate from a phosphor when the emission device is used in phosphor display devices. The field emission device is operated at lower potentials thereby reducing power requirements and minimizing heat dissipation requirements. Further, the field emission device which operates at lower field in order to reduce mechanically and temporally unstable emission sites which result in current bursts and current deficits at these sites. Still further, the field emission device incorporates internal resistors which provide series resistance to limit noise at affected emission areas thereby eliminating the need to limit noise by incorporating high-valued resistors, typically in series with the cathode terminal of the emission device, which reduce the potential to the entire emission surface and increasing potentials required to produce current sufficient to excite display phosphor.

    摘要: A device is disclosed which produces high current, low noise, low lateral energy, stochastic electron emission from a multiplicity of insulative particles subjected to a field. The insulative particles are in and of a surface thickness comprised of a random mixture of insulative and conductive particles in ohmic contact. Emission is achieved at applied potentials of about 5 volts which produce a field sufficient to emit electron currents of nanoamperes to milliamperes. Single devices or arrays of devices may be batch fabricated. Each device has an imtegral, implicity self-aligned electron optic system comprising means for modulating, focusing and deflecting the formed current beam, and means shielding the device from ambient magnetic fields.
