    摘要: Precision test equipment requires periodic maintenance and calibration to insure accurate and reliable operation. For the most efficient use of such test equipment, it is serviced on the basis of time in operation and not on a calendar interval. To monitor the time in usage of test equipment and signal the expiration of an operating time interval, a computer is connected to the equipment and operated only when the test equipment itself is operational. This time interval computer utilizes as a timing element an electrochemical storage cell which has a pair of electrodes and contains active material for transfer between the pair of electrodes. The electrochemical storage cells control a four stage transistor switch that includes an output stage transistor controlling a warning light circuit. At the end of a selected time interval, as determined by a resistor in series with the storage cell, an oscillator takes over control of the output stage transistor to provide a flashing operation of the warning light.

The case comprises one electrode and the other is a U-shaped wire extending through the cup with an intermediate section immersed in the electrolyte solution to be etched away until broken. The manufacturing process for the capsule comprises a series of simplified operations comprising insert of the cup into the case, filling with electrolyte and sealing with epoxy resin.

    摘要: An electrochemical potential memory device comprising a cathode mainly comprising silver, an anode mainly comprising silver chalcogenide, and a silver ion conductive solid state electrolyte sandwiched therebetween is connected to a current source for selectively driving the device in a charging state or discharging state and to a high input impedance direct current amplifier responsive to the terminal voltage of the device, and a timing operation signal proportional to the lapse of the charging or discharging time is obtained from the amplifier. In a preferred embodiment, the potential memory device comprises a main cathode for supply of the charging or discharging current and an auxiliary cathode for detecting the terminal voltage of the device, the latter being connected to the high input impedance amplifier. The timing apparatus employing such device eliminates disadvantageous influence caused by an overvoltage as occurs at the time of current conduction in the device.

    摘要: The disclosure illustrates a longterm timing system comprising a battery coupled to an electrochemical cell through a pulsing circuit. The electrochemical cell is of the type that requires current flow above a minimum value to enable proper operation. The pulses from the pulsing circuit have a peak substantially greater than the minimum permissible current level but the pulses are substantially spaced in time. The resultant average current flow is then low enough so that the time at which the impedance of the electrochemical cell changes is greatly increased.

    摘要: A high voltage AC system for driving a low voltage device including a high voltage rectifier and a comparator for comparing the rectified signal with a predetermined voltage value for producing low voltage pulses. A coulometric timing circuit is coupled to the rectifier for providing current flow between the cathode and the filament of the coulometric cell for electrolytic erosion of the filament when high voltage is applied to the system. A transistor is adapted to drive the low voltage device in response to the low voltage pulses. The coulometric cell is coupled to the amplifier pair for preventing the amplifier from driving the low voltage device until the filament opens.
